Facebook Gaming, a new cloud gaming service has been announced

Cloud gaming has become more popular in the last couple of years, so it's natural to see that several big names in the gaming industry have been looking to get their share of the pie.

We have some interesting options from Microsoft, Nvidia, Google, Amazon and more, but today the focus is on Facebook Gaming, a service that doesn't necessarily come from a big name in the gaming world, but could become in the future, as that the social networking giant has announced its new cloud gaming service, called Facebook Gaming.

Apple rejects Facebook Gaming from the App Store for the fifth time

Facebook has officially announced its new cloud gaming service called Facebook Gaming. Jason Rubin, Vice President of Play at Facebook, said they are excited to announce the beta for the cloud streaming service on their new platform, which will start with a variety of native mobile games in Android APK file format.

He also expressed that Facebook is not trying to replace hardware for his favorite game, as he believes that cloud gaming will increase the options for accessing great games.

"Today we are announcing that Facebook Gaming has released multiple cloud-streamed games on Facebook app and browser, playable instantly, no download required. Recently, 200.000 people played our cloud-streamed games per week in limited regions, so while it's not exactly a secret, I'm excited to expose what we're building.

Cloud game streaming promises to provide unprecedented access to games on every screen. And while we're excited to play a role in that future, that future is a long way off. So before we talk about our aspirations, let me start with what we're not doing. Cloud gaming ads are prone to hype, so I'm going to speak openly from the start."

First, Facebook will focus on free games, including titles like:

    • Asphalt 9: Legends
    • Mobile Legends: Bang Bang
    • PGA TOUR Golf Shootout
    • Solitaire: Arthur's Tale
    • WWE SuperCard

Unfortunately, iOS users are out, at least at this early stage, so this service will initially be limited to Android and web players. The main reason behind this decision is because "Apple treats games differently and continues to exercise control over a very precious resource".

However, there is also open internet, so Apple users can still play games using Browser such as Safari. You can see the full announcement on the Facebook website of joining the cloud gaming services.
