On Monday (27), owners of the original Chromebook Pixel received a warning message that their devices will no longer be supported by the company. Thus, devices that were released in 2013 will not receive program updates from Google.
This means computers won't get new updates for Chrome OS and programs like Google Chrome won't hit machines anymore.
The message sent to all users through the device's automatic updates application says that the machine will no longer receive any updates and that the user should consider switching to a more recent version of the Chromebook.
Google's decision can't be considered a complete surprise, as the hardware of the first Chromebook Pixel is already well out of date, and getting the updates to work flawlessly was a big challenge for the company's developers.
