Google Meet now lets you add co-presenters to video conferences

Google Meet, the video meeting app, is getting a lot of new features to help users better manage online meetings. However, there are features that you won't find, as part of the news is reserved for company and school accounts.

Among the main new features coming to Meets is the ability to select up to 25 people as co-hosts, thus giving access to meeting controls. This way, co-hosts will be able to mute participants, end the meeting, and even control who can join. Previously, this feature was only available to Google Workspace for Education customers.

Check out the list of control options available for co-hosts below:

    • Limit who can share the screen,
    • Limit who can send chat messages,
    • Mute everything with one click,
    • Close the meeting for everyone,
    • Control who can join the meeting and how they can join with the "Quick Access" setting. Observation: this feature is only available for specific editions of Workspace - see below for more information.

Another feature that Google Meet is gaining is quick access settings. They will be on by default, but if they are off, it means that meetings cannot start until a host joins. Meeting participants can block anonymous users from joining or allow only invited participants to join without requiring permission.

    Launch and availability

Google Meets updates will start arriving August 16th on Android and August 30th on iOS. If you want to know more details, just access the Google blog here.
