Google plans to eliminate URLs in mobile search

Apparently, Google intends to do away with URLs in mobile search. According to The Next Web, when searching for something in the search engine through Android, the search results no longer contain URLs.

Instead, the service only shows the page title, a thumbnail of a featured image of the site, and a presentation.

We're still not sure if Google is just testing it or if it's rolling out the new feature gradually. The change doesn't seem to have a specific purpose other than to make the interface a little cleaner.

Users, with this, will have more difficulty finding out which site they were directed to when tapping the result. There is also the possibility that webmasters may lose traffic from Internet users looking for a particular site.

The change in question may be associated with the fact that the company believes that Google's SEO and indexing is good enough to be able to accurately point to the best search results without having to show the URLs.
