Google will have its own blockchain

Bloomberg published a story saying that Google is working on blockchain-related technology for its cloud service. The novelty could be used to guarantee customers the security of data stored on the network of computer servers in the cloud, for example.

The publication also says that Google will be able to provide a version of the technology for other companies to run on their own servers, said the sources who declined to be identified.

Google, it's worth mentioning, started testing blockchain in its cloud back in 2016, so if it's really working on it, it wouldn't exactly be new.

Alphabet, which owns Google, has already invested in Ripple, which was once considered the second most valuable cryptocurrency in the world, in addition, it has acquired or invested in several startups with experience in digital accounting. According to Bloomberg, many of these deals were never announced.

A Google spokesperson said, "As with many new technologies, we have individuals on various teams exploring potential uses of blockchain, but it's too early to speculate on potential uses or plans."
