Only family or small business packages using the Google service with free custom domains and associated email addresses will need to upgrade to a paid Google Workspace account. Users who have the suffix "@gmail.com" and have free Google accounts will not be affected by the change.
As an example, if someone you know created a Google Apps account in 2008 with the domain "johnsonfamily.com" and gave multiple people a specific email address, that person will have to pay for a Google Workspace account. until July 2022.
