Hades - Game of the Week - Nintendo

Today, our conversation is with Nintendo fans! As you are used to, we bring you another one of our games of the week. This time, our recommendation is for Nintendo Switch owners.

In the last two weeks, we've been recommending titles that prove the strength of exclusives from the company that marked its name in video game history. With Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Super Mario Odyssey, we indicate games that can only be checked out by those who own a Big N console. However, Nintendo Switch doesn't just live on company exclusives. Our nomination today is Hades, an indie game that is also available for PC gamers.

2020 was, without a doubt, an incredible year for Supergiant Games. The developer saw its indie title dominate the market and shine in awards, receiving recognition from critics and the public. Hades earned excellent grades and became one of the top titles of the year, including winning awards and being nominated in extremely important categories. At The Game Awards 2020, Hades was nominated in eight categories, including Best Game of the Year, and was the big winner in two, Best Independent Game and Best Action Game.

    a story of gods

As its name implies, Hades is a game that delivers a plot about the gods of Greek mythology. In the title, players take control of Zagreu, the son of Hades, who has no interest in fulfilling his duty of becoming responsible for his father's kingdom. Despite being the legitimate heir, Zagreu doesn't want this for himself and that's why he decides to change his destiny, leaving the underworld.

In his desire to leave the place, Zagreu does not have the support of his father, nor of any member of his house, but even so, he remains firm in the idea of trying the impossible: Leaving a place that no one has ever been able to escape.

The participation of other gods is important in the game.

During the journey, several gods of mythology appear as important figures in the plot, including making Zagreu stronger, offering blessings that deliver new ways to defeat your opponents.

    interesting gameplay

Hades is a roguelike, so the game also features the main characteristics of the genre. I believe that this can make many players feel unmotivated to face the journey, as the "repetition" of games of this style can be unpleasant for part of the public. However, I have to say that Hades' gameplay is very interesting and can overcome any sense of repetition that the game conveys.

With the title already offering action from the beginning, players discover the dangers together with the main character, who for the first time is facing those situations at the beginning of his journey to get out of the underworld.

Hades - Game of the Week - Nintendo

    Hades has great combat.

In games of this genre, death is more inevitable than in any other title. You will die several times and return to the beginning of the trajectory. I confess that I don't like the idea very much either, and titles like this run the risk of becoming cloying, but Hades has many qualities that sustain him, in addition to also relying on character reactions that close with the player's failures, causing comments arise, even with Hades delivering phrases steeped in sarcasm.

    An excellent indie game

Hades is an excellent indie game, packed with quality and masterfully made by Supergiant.

The title deserves all the recognition it had in the year 2020, as well as its nominations are fair, with the same serving for its awards.

Hades - Game of the Week - Nintendo

A game that really deserves to be checked out!

For those who like the roguelike genre, Hades is an almost mandatory journey. Available on Nintendo Switch, this is a game that should be checked out by the public.
