MIUI 12 is the current operating system of Xiaomi, a Chinese electronics manufacturer and the third company in the world with the highest number of smartphones sold in the third quarter of this year. The proprietary software is based on Android 10 and customized with new features and functionality implemented by the brand.
Since MIUI 10, Xiaomi has been working to adapt the system and meet the needs of users, based on other OS models, such as Samsung's OneUI, for example. In the version released in mid-April, the presence of functions aimed at productivity through the device is notorious, such as floating windows, which allow you to run two applications at the same time through multitasking.

MIUI 12 Functions
1. Floating windows
This feature allows the user to browse two applications simultaneously, as long as the app does not have a password.
- Access the apps that are running in the background;
- Tap on 'Floating window' and select the app to be used in thumbnail;
- Use the app. To perform certain functions (resize or close) just use the control bar.
2. Ultra battery saving
This is a feature present in the Samsung system and which has finally arrived for Xiaomi mobiles. The ultra power saving mode restricts all background processes and drastically reduces the performance of the device, thus saving battery and guaranteeing hours of operation.
- Go down the notification bar and search for 'ULTRA ECONOMY', enable the option;
- To exit this mode, tap on the icon in the upper right corner of the screen.

3. MIUI 11 shortcut menu
One of the main novelties of MIUI 12 is the control panel, which is very similar to the iOS layout. Through the panel it is possible to have quick access to various system functions, such as flashlight, location, screen rotation and among others.
However, the top area is divided between the notification bar and the control panel, which is a problem for some users. Fortunately it is possible to return to the model of the previous version of MIUI.
- Open the settings and look for 'Control Center', having done that tap on 'Control Center and Notifications area';
- To use the old menu, disable the option 'Use new control center'.
4. Video Toolbox
This function adds a few features in applications that stream videos, such as YouTube. By activating the video toolbox it is possible to use applications, take screenshots or stream content to a Smart TV.
- Access the settings and go to the 'Special Features' area, then tap on 'Video Toolbox' and enable the feature;
- Define in which applications the shortcut will be present.
