Konami Claims Silent Hill Rumors Are False

Konami has officially dismissed recent rumors about the Silent Hill series' supposed return, as well as Hideo Kojima's Silent Hills reboot, which would be the series' ninth.

In a note sent to outlets covering the gaming universe, a Konami representative states: "We are aware of all rumors and news, but we can confirm that they are not true. I know this is not the answer fans would like to hear. ."

That rep later clarified that "It's not to say that we're completely closing the door on the franchise, but the rumors swirling around the series are not true."

In January 2020, leaks suggested that Konami was looking to secure a new Silent Hill project and was releasing two games. At the time, a Konami representative said the company is "listening to customer feedback and considering ways to deliver the next title".

Earlier this month, the same source reported that Sony Interactive Entertainment Japan was preparing a Silent Hills reboot, part of which Hideo Kojima would return with Silent Hills.

Even more recently, another Konami leaker claimed that Sony has expressed interest in buying and continuing with Silent Hill, not to mention Metal Gear and Castlevania. The leaker further claimed that Sony hired Kojima Productions to handle Silent Hill and Metal Gear, but Castlevania's fate was uncertain.

Unfortunately for fans of the franchise, none of these rumors or alleged leaks have been confirmed and now that Konami has officially positioned itself, we can move forward until the company gets back to thinking fondly about the series' return.

The crowd until then was for the rumors to be right, after all when this type of information leak happens, it usually comes from sources inside the companies, but the fact that the company went public and released an official note made fans sad.

However, rumors that seem too good to be true often are and this certainly seems to be the case. That said, Konami also stated that "it's not closing the doors on the franchise", so a new version isn't coming now, but it could come in the future.
