Since 1995, an incredible 69 titles based on LEGO building blocks have been released. After the second title, produced by Mindscape, debuted, The Lego Group decided to self-publish its games through the Lego Media division, which changed its name in 2001 to Lego Software and then to Lego Interactive in 2002. eventually closed and the team behind it founded Giant Interactive Entertainment for the next Lego games.

However, after the release of Lego Star Wars: The Video Game, Giant eventually merged with Traveller's Tales to form TT Games, which was later acquired by Warner Bros.

The first game based on the Lego product was "Lego Fun to Build", which debuted on the Sega Pico console. Subsequently, until 1998, several titles were released for the PC platform (Windows). Then, in 1999 there was the first cross-platform release, coming to Nintendo 64, Playstation, Game Boy Color and PC.
