After almost 10 years Nintendo decided to end the production of 3DS handheld consoles. The information began to gain traction when Japanese users reported that on Nintendo's website the 3DS models were listed as "out of production".

The end of production of all 3ds series has been announced from the Nintendo official website.
In addition, the page of New2dsLL has been deleted from the official website in North America.

After the incident, a Nintendo spokesperson told Polygon that the 3DS really came to an end.
"We can confirm that the manufacturing of the Nintendo 3DS family of systems has ended. Nintendo and third-party games for the Nintendo 3DS family of systems will continue to be available on the Nintendo eShop, Nintendo.com and at retail. The existing library of over 1.000 games Nintendo 3DS contains many critically acclaimed titles and can provide years of content to explore and enjoy."
The Verge website even reported this week that the Nintendo 3DS appears to have been deleted from the official US website. The end of the Nintendo 3DS was already expected, because when the company launched in 2017 the Nintendo Switch lost the sense of having the portable console, as the Switch already provides both portability and the possibility of connecting the console to the TV and playing as if it were a fixed device. Originally released in 2011, the 3DS comes to an end after 9 years, having gone through several models and revisions (New Nintendo 3DS, New 3DS XL, 2DS and 2DS XL).
Nintendo 3DS sold $75,7 million units
The Nintendo 3DS was the successor to the Nintendo DS models, a line of handheld consoles that was very successful. The Nintendo DS was released in 2004 and discontinued in 2013, selling 154 million units. The Nintendo 3DS ended its sales with 75,7 million units sold and 383,1 million games sold.
The best-selling Nintendo 3DS game of all time was Mario Kart 7 (released in 2011), followed by Pokémon - X and Y; Sun and Moon; and Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. If you don't consider Nintendo studios, the best-selling game by another studio was Monster Hunter Generations, which was developed by Capcom and released in 2015.
