Nintendo Switch Pro GPU will be based on Volta architecture; 4K support is not expected.

There have been rumors for some time that Nintendo would be developing a new version of the Nintendo Switch. Apparently, the Japanese console developer is working in partnership with NVIDIA for the implementation of a new SoC for the video game.

Rumors say Nintendo is co-developing GPUs based on the Volta architecture with NVIDIA

According to rumors that are running around the internet, there is a chance that a new model of the console will be released in the last quarter of this year. Unfortunately this new version will not have the new TegraX1 +, however the new custom processors that Nintendo is developing together with NVIDIA will have a GPU based on the Volta architecture.

Even with the console processors upgrade, it is believed that there will be no substantial performance improvements and we will not support 4K resolution. According to information from Taiwan, as the production of the processors has not yet started, it seems unlikely that we will have the launch of the new Switch model by the end of 2020.

As it's just a rumor, we should take it with some caution. At the very least, the person responsible for the possible information leak has had a good reputation on mobile products before, meaning there may be a chance that his words are fact.

The website Digitimes, earlier this month, also revealed that there would be a possibility that a new model of the Nintendo Switch video game would be released later this year. However, it was not said that it would be a hardware upgrade that would bring big changes or that it would be smaller, like the Switch Lite. If we consider the most basic model that Nintendo has launched, which does not have the possibility to highlight the controls, it is believed that the company will launch a more powerful model, just as Sony did when launching the PS4 PRO.

The new version of the Nintendo Switch console has not yet been officially revealed. Stay tuned for more news and comment below what you think of the rumor!
