PS5 controller, DualSense, wins patent that suggests automatic detection of users

Recently, a patent for the controller developed for the PS5, DualSense, was approved, which says that it would be possible to specifically identify a console user simply by the way he holds the device. According to the VGC website, the patent says that the Dualsense sensors (gyroscope, accelerometer and others) would be used to obtain data tracking the position, orientation and characteristics of the player who is holding the controller (maximum speed, minimum speed, average) for a certain time (60 seconds for example).

The functionality described by DualSense's approved patent aims to automatically identify and request the possible user profile. As described above, the Playstation 5 controller would use its sensors to find a pattern in the way each person uses the DualSense and then determine who is using the console.

It is important to note that this new patent is not limited to the DualSense, but most devices that can be used together with the PS5, such as the Move Motion and the PSVR headset. However, it has to be said that as several patents are always requested by companies, we cannot be sure that the technology really arrives for Playstation 5 players.

It will be interesting to see how the final result will be in terms of video game interaction with the player and how much this will help the player during the gaming experience. What did you think of the new published patent? Comment below and share your opinion with us!
