Five years after its release PUBG Battlegrounds will become a free to play game, that is, it will be a free title. The reveal was made by KRAFTON, during The Game Awards 2021. The game will become free on PC and consoles, with the change happening on the day 12 January 2022.
After the release of the free version, the game will receive news and improvements in the following months. According to the developers, there has never been a better time to play PUBG.

PUBG Battlegrounds free
Commenting on the change, CH Kim, CEO of KRAFTON, Inc, said the transition will serve to broaden the scope of IP. The CEO further said that the content offered will delight both new and old players.
"As PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS pioneered the Battle Royale genre and became an IP with global influence, this is the perfect time to transition to F2P and welcome new players. The game has grown substantially since the We brought it to Early Access nearly five years ago, and we believe it offers one of the best value for money in gaming. The transition to going free is the next step in our journey to broaden the scope of PUBG's IP through a content that new and veteran players alike will love."
Battlegrounds Plus
PUBG will become a completely free game, but all players will start with a basic account. Although this account allows access to the game and practically all available content, there are some features that can only be used by players who have an account with the Battleground Plus upgrade.
With a single value of US$ 12,99, which is currently equivalent to R$ 72,88, Battlegrounds Plus was announced as a way to support the development of the game, while the player also complements their experience in the title.
