Sony buys 5% of Fall Guys studio Devolver Digital

Recently, the official profile of PlayStation announced that Sony decided to invest in the Devolver Digital studio, developer of games like Fall Guys, Hotline Miami and Enter the Gungeon. This revelation came shortly after Devolver's move to a publicly traded company on the London Stock Exchange.

Devolver Digital is currently valued at $950 million and according to GamesIndustry.biz, Sony has acquired a 5% share of the studio. While not all Devolver titles are on Sony's platforms, the two companies have previously partnered, such as Fall Guys, which was exclusive for a while on PlayStation. Devolver CEO Douglas Morin says:

"An IPO is the right choice to ensure our continued growth and support even more wonderful games. Being a publicly traded company gives liquidity to our amazing team, all shareholders. It also gives us access to the capital markets to continue investing in our growth and talent strategy."

Devolver Digital on the London Stock Exchange

According to the website gamesindustry, the shares of Devolver Digital were launched on the London Stock Exchange this Thursday (4) in the morning. At that time, the studio raised $261 million on its admission to AIM (the London Stock Exchange submarket), which valued the company at $950 million. As a result, Devolver became the largest US-based company by market capitalization to be listed on the London Stock Exchange and the second largest company to be traded on the AIM.

Founded in 2009 by Mike Wilson, Harry Miller and Rick Stults, Devolver Digital is a studio that was created in Austin, Texas, USA. The company is known for bringing indie (independent) games like Hotline Miami, Loop Hero and Shadow Warrior, in addition to the Fall Guys phenomenon.
