Not much is known about the gameplay of The Witcher: Monster Slayer, even though a trailer was shown exclusively to demonstrate the game's gameplay. What was possible to observe throughout the display of game scenes is the great similarity between Pokémon Go and Harry Potter: Wizards Unite (both developed by Niantic). As the title was made by a different studio (Spokko), it is believed that we may have something different than what is currently available.

    According to CD Projekt:

"Featuring console-grade visuals, Monster Slayer allows players to explore the world around them as they track, study and battle monsters new and familiar, using the time of day and real-life weather conditions to their advantage. is critical to defeating tougher enemies, as players will need to brew powerful potions and oils, craft bombs and monster lures, and upgrade their character before putting these beasts to sword and signs in first-person AR combat."

CD Projekt also said that The Witcher fans can expect something other than roaming around and collecting monsters. The augmented reality game will feature "rich story-based missions inspired by other titles in the series."

    Launch and availability

The Witcher: Monster Slayer does not yet have an exact release date, but it is known that it will be released later this year 2020. The mobile game will be present on iOS and Android operating systems and will be free to play.
