With Days Gone 2 cancelled, Bend Studio may be working on a new game

Since the rumor that the sequel to Days Gone had been canceled and Bend Studio had become a "support" for Naughty Dog, the company has been drawing the attention of gamers. However, contrary to what had been previously reported, new information has emerged to indicate that SIE Bend Studio is not for, but is actually working on, a new project of its own.

On LinkedIn, the profile of Tom Dibble, head of narrative at Bend Studio, indicates that a new open world game has been in the works since September 2019.

According to the profile information, Tom Dibble works with Lauren Williams Dibble in a partnership to create "mythologies, rules, characters and complete narrative for a AAA open world game".

As players recently learned about Sony preventing a sequel to Days Gone from taking place, it is likely that this new game from Bend Studio is a new IP.

According to Jeff Ross, former member of SIE Bend Studio, the second Days Gone would feature an online multiplayer mode. Jeff Ross, who currently works at NetherRealm Studios, participated in a conversation with God of War creator David Jaffe and revealed information about the Days Gone sequel.

According to Ross, the online mode would be cooperative and would not affect the narrative, as it would be something secondary. Ross also stated that the idea was to implement this mode in the first game, but it was not possible.

"It would be a secondary mode if we did it in the first or even the second (game). It wouldn't have complicated the main narrative... because that's where we're good. That was the strength of the first title, so we'd build something along that line to make it even better "

Jeff Ross said that the multiplayer mode would have all the elements of Days Gone. Ross said it would be something of a "club", with lots of "guys like Deacon trying to make ends meet".

"Take this world that you've built, all the assets and systems, and then put them into a multiplayer theme of that universe. So it would be guys like Deacon trying to survive, by building a club or something similar. I think it would be cool to be in that world. cooperative and see the battles against the hordes."
