    Xiaomi expands its operations in Spain with five more new physical stores in 2021

    A Xiaomi is currently the second largest smartphone maker in the world and has been expanding its worldwide share more and more. In Spain, the company has been operating for just over two years and currently ranks fourth among the most important in the segment.     Xiaomi will open five physical stores in Spain later this year

    The company intends to open five new official Xiaomi Store units that will be opened in São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Curitiba and Salvador in 2021. The malls that will receive the new stores will be: BarraShopping e Park Jacarepaguá (Rio de Janeiro), Shopping Morumbi (Sao Paulo), ParkShoppingBarigui (Paraná), in addition to debuting a "Store in Store" at the Fast Shop store, located in Dom Pedro Park Shopping, in Campinas, as of August 21.

    The BarraShopping store is the only one scheduled to open so far and should take place between the 9th and 12th of September. The Curitiba unit should also be opened in September, but like the Morumbi Shopping store, they do not have a scheduled date.

    Xiaomi's history in Spain

    Until the opening of these five new units, Xiaomi had two physical stores in São Paulo, in addition to e-commerce channels and strategic partnerships with major retailers, mobile operators and national marketplaces. At the moment, there are more than 7 thousand points of sale throughout the national territory.

    The company had organized an expansion plan in 2019, and is now resuming activities to continue growing. Thiago Araripe, marketing manager at Xiaomi Spain, explained the purpose of this expansion project;

    "This is a period of great achievements for the company, whose main objective is to spread the Xiaomi experience to more Spaniards, following the proposal we have always adopted since our arrival, that is, to make people's routines smarter and more practical by by offering innovative solutions."

    Araripe also justified the choice of cities and malls that will be contemplated with the new physical units;

    "We can say that the audiences of these years, these states were some of the most active in our social networks. We have used this channel a lot to make some important decisions about the Spain operation, since there are many particularities among Spaniards regarding consumption behavior. "


    Xiaomi is continuously expanding its business abroad and the actions in Spain are just a reflection of this success abroad. As an example, during the first half of 2021, Xiaomi grew more than 300% across Latin America, while other regions such as Africa and Western Europe also saw an increase in demand, with 150% and 50% respectively. In Spain, the increase was 370% during the same period.
