Xiaomi's new factory will be able to produce 60 5G smartphones per minute

Xiaomi's new factory will be able to produce 60 5G smartphones per minute

Recently, Lei Jun, CEO of Xiaomi, said that the company intends to launch at least 10 smartphones with 5G support in 2020. Now, during the event "World 5G Conference", the same executive said that the company has started the construction of a factory focused on this technology that will be able to produce 60 smartphones per minute.

The factory, which is located in Beijing's Technical and Economic Development Zone, will open next month and has a total area of 187 square meters. Initially, these facilities will be able to develop 1 million smartphones per month, but when they are fully operational, the average production will be one device per minute. This represents 60% more performance compared to other factories.

Many people are calling this building a "5G factory" not only because it produces smartphones that support the new mobile internet standard, but also because it uses this same technology in the manufacture of Xiaomi's next cell phones. After all, to guarantee the aforementioned numbers, the Chinese company will use autonomous robots connected via 5G, cloud services and Big Data information.

The new factory will also be very useful in enhancing the experience of "Flash Sales", which are basically quick sales that take place in China and usually deliver a small amount of inventory. So far, Xiaomi has not disclosed which will be the first models manufactured in these facilities, but the Redmi K30, the brand's next premium mid-ranger, is believed to be on the list.
