Analyst says high-end lenses will start shipping this month for the iPhone 12 line

Analyst commented last Friday that manufacturing partner Largan will start shipping camera lenses for the new iPhone from the second half of this month.

Compared to previous years, the estimated production window for Largan to deliver the lenses has been delayed by four to six weeks, meaning peak iPhone lens shipments will be between September and November.

In previous years, lenses were shipped to Apple's assembly partners between August and October. Although not mentioned in the note, it is likely that the pandemic in the new coronavirus caused the delays.

Ming-Chi Kuo, however, did not provide additional information about the type of lens that Apple will use in its next iPhones, although in previous notes the analyst has referred to seven-element lenses for use with the iPhone 12.

Adopting a 7P lens design would yield slightly improved image quality over current iPhone models such as the iPhone 11 Pro, which uses an ultra-wide five-element lens stack and two six-element arrays for super-large photography. angular and telephoto.

In addition, it is not known for sure whether the adoption of these new lenses will reach all models that will arrive this year. In March the analyst, very familiar with the market and with Apple, said that the "7P" lenses would come to at least one camera module.

Apple is expected to bring two or three iPhone 12 models, 5,4, 6,1 and 6,7 inches, with dual and triple lens systems, similar to last year's lineup. And we cannot forget that the forecast is that the new iPhones will bring the new A14X and A14Z processors, promising performance never seen before.
