According to a survey carried out by App Annie, the sum of applications available on the App Store exceeds 2 million. Revenue from such applications amounts to approximately $130 billion. It’s worth mentioning that over 10 of these apps have generated over $1 million in revenue since July 2010.
According to the data captured by the research company, even though Google Play has 70% of global app downloads, App Store users are responsible for 66% of worldwide app spending. In 2017, for example, the Apple store had 30,5 billion downloads and a total user spend of $42,5 billion.
In the recently celebrated ten years, the App Store received around 4,5 million applications, of which 77% are games. The data also reveals that they account for about 31% of downloads on the iOS store, with a revenue share of 75%.
Asia Pacific accounts for about 49% of downloads and 59% of spend, with the Americas accounting for 26% of downloads and 27% of revenue. Taking into account each country, the United States appears in the lead, with 40,1 billion downloads and US$ 36 billion in revenue.
Among the most downloaded apps on the iOS store, Facebook appears first, followed by Messenger and YouTube. Among the five most downloaded apps, only one does not belong to Mark Zuckerberg's group.

Taking into account data from 2017, App Annie also said that the Spaniard who owns an iPhone has an average of 108 applications installed on his device. However, each of them uses an average of 40 per month.
Spain appears in fifth place in terms of the number of installed applications. Spain trails France (114), Indonesia (113), South Korea (112) and Japan (109). In this regard, 12 large markets selected by the company were evaluated.
