Apple accused of overestimating iPhone battery life

Apple as in the vast majority of times denies to death its unethical practices against the consumer of its devices. This time the reason was the battery life of their smartphones. According to consumer protection company Which?, from the United Kingdom, in tests carried out on cell phones, they obtained a battery life that ranged from 18% to 51% less than what Apple declared.

The Which? performed tests with 9 different models of iPhones in an attempt to determine an average battery life time for each of the devices. Among the models tested, it was in the iPhone XR model that there was a greater disparity in duration compared to Apple's 25h duration statement. According to the consumer protection company, trying only the conversation function, a time of a miserable 16 hours and 32 minutes was obtained in one of its tests.

The most ridiculous thing is that Apple claims that the iPhone XR was made, built, thinking about battery saving and ironically it was the cell phone that had the greatest disparity between the tests carried out in the UK and the tests carried out by the "apple" company.

Of course, the company couldn't help but take a stand when it saw its product being vilified in the media. Apple in a press release said the following:

"With tight integration between hardware and software, the iPhone is designed to intelligently manage power usage to maximize battery life. Our testing methodology reveals this intelligence. Which? has not shared its methods with us, and for Therefore, we cannot compare their results with ours. We share our testing methodology".

But is it just Apple that lies about the battery life of its phones? Of course not.

It was also found that the manufacturer HTC slightly raises the battery life results of its cell phones. At least the difference was significantly smaller compared to Apple, about 5% difference with what was officially announced by the company.

Other companies, worthy of praise, omitted the actual battery life, but it went for more than what was officially announced. That is, they created a safety margin to ensure that their cell phones reached the promised battery life. The manufacturers that passed the tests with glory were Samsung, Sony and Nokia.

Sony, for example, on the Xperia Z5 managed to last 25 hours and 25 minutes, 21% more than what was promised by the company (17 hours).
