Apple adopts Google search for good

Apple still doesn't have its own search tool, for that reason it chose to use both Microsoft Bing and Google to allow users to carry out searches within their virtual environments. Now, however, with iOS 11 and macOS High Sierra the situation is different.

Through a statement sent to TechCrunch, Apple clarifies why it abandoned Bing. Microsoft also expressed itself on the subject. Check out:

"Switching to Google as the web search provider for Siri, Search within iOS and Spotlight on Mac will allow these services to have a consistent web search experience, with the default in Safari. We have a strong relationship with Google and Microsoft, and we remain committed to delivering the best user experience possible," says Apple.

By this, Apple means that it wants a consistent search service by standardizing the search engine across all its platforms, not merging providers.

"We value our relationship with Apple and look forward to continuing to work with them in many ways, including Bing image search on Siri, to provide the best possible experience for our customers. Bing has grown every year since its launch. launch, now driving more than a third of US PC search volume, and continuing to grow around the world. It also offers search experience across a number of other partners including Yahoo (Verizon), AOL and Amazon, as as well as Twitter's bilingual skills. As we progress, given our work advancing the field of artificial intelligence, we are confident that Bing will be at the forefront of delivering a smarter search experience to our partners and consumers," says Microsoft.

Microsoft, meanwhile, says it will continue to strive to increase its market share, and that it accounts for a third of US search volume, according to the company.
