    Apple after increasing iPhone prices in India appoints new head of sales in the country

      According to Reuters, this week Apple appointed Michel Coulomb as its chief sales executive in India, replacing Sanjay Kaul. The executive arrives taking on the commitment of being able to expand Apple's business in the country, with the company having only 3% market share, in the third largest smartphone market in the world.

      The reason why Kaul will leave the company has not been commented on by Apple, but he is no longer part of the Apple team after six years dedicated to the company, reported The Economic Times. However, Coulomb has also been part of the Apple team since 2003, but last year he already held the position of director of the company in South Asia.

      This year, Apple's sales in India increased by 17%, managing to accumulate approximately $1,81 billion. Sales, even so, were considered well below the numbers achieved in the previous year, 2016, when Apple managed to increase sales in the country by 50%.

      In addition to naming the new head of sales, the company also this week chose to raise the prices of all its iPhones in India, which resulted in a 3,5% increase in the price of the devices. But Apple justified its increase, would be because the local government would have raised taxes on imported products. However, a single Apple device was left out of this increase in price, that's because it is assembled in Taiwan Wistron, in Bengaluru, we are talking about the iPhone SE.


      Currently, the Indian market, which according to Reuters is very price-sensitive, is being dominated by the South Korean manufacturer Samsung and also by Chinese manufacturers such as Oppo, Vivo and Xiaomi.
