Apple will not support xCloud, Google Stadia, and other game streaming services

According to a statement issued by Apple, Microsoft's xCloud and Google's Stadia game streaming services will not be available on their smartphones or tablets. The North American company's justification for this decision is due to the requirement to review each game that is made available for its devices with iOS operating system.

An Apple spokesperson told Business Insider that the mobile gaming policy is designed to "protect customers and provide a fair and equal playing field for developers."

The spokesperson for the "apple" continued his speech saying:

"Our customers enjoy great apps and games from millions of developers, and game services can absolutely be launched from the App Store as long as they follow the same set of guidelines applicable to all developers, including submitting individual games for review and display. in graphics and in search. In addition to the App Store, developers can choose to reach all iPhone and iPad users on the web through Safari and other browsers in the App Store."

Tim Sweeney, CEO of Epic Games, openly posted on his Twitter account saying that Apple's policies are the denial of a whole system of innovation that games are winning. Tim said:

      "Apple has banned the metaverse.

The principle they claim would literally rule out all ecosystems and cross-platform games with user-created modes: not just XCloud, Stadia, and GeForce NOW, but also Fortnite, Minecraft, and Roblox."

Even with the tests that happened with xCloud on iOS, the experience was quite limited compared to what was done on Android. Only one game (Halo: The Master Chief Collection) was offered to a maximum number of 10 beta testers. On Android, the tests offered 80 games.

Given the fact that the growth of game streaming is on the verge of a boom, it will be interesting to see how long Apple's policies remain the same.
