While you can expect to never have to use your device's warranty, if you ever need to, you can save considerable money by taking advantage of Apple support. Even in great quality devices such as iPhones, iPads and Macbooks, the hardware may fail or become unusable. And that's when the guarantee saves us. If you bought your device in another country, as many Spaniards do in the United States, the warranty for this device can only be used in the country of origin. That is, Apple Spain will not cover your product, even if it is within the warranty period. For a free repair, you will need to bring the device to the country where you purchased it.
Another important detail about Apple's warranty is that, unlike other manufacturers, Apple does not require the invoice to support and make repairs. Simply access the product's serial number, and Apple will assist you free of charge even if you don't have the receipt.
The device must not have been opened or altered under any circumstances, as this will void Apple's warranty.

Before looking up the warranty status of an Apple device, you need to locate the serial number of that device.
Finding the Serial Number of an iOS Device
- Open the app Settings;
- Touch General;
- Touch On;
- Scroll down until you see the section Serial number. Note the text on the right.
If your iOS device is not working and you cannot access the cconfigurations, you can use the IMEI number instead. The IMEI is found on the back of the device, below the text of the iPhone, iPod ou iPad.
Finding a Mac's Serial Number
- click on the Apple menu in the upper left corner of the screen;
- hold down the key Options and select System Information;
- On the screen Overview, power of attorney or field Serial number and copy the number next to it to the clipboard, or write it down.
If you can't access your Mac, the serial number is engraved on the underside of MacBooks, under the foot of the iMac or Thunderbolt display, for example. For more information, see Apple's knowledge base article How to Find the Serial Number of an Apple Product.
Power of attorney or guaranteed status
Once the serial number is located, you can check the warranty status on the Apple website:
- Open Apple's warranty status page in a web browser;
- Type or paste the serial number into the appropriate field, enter the verification code below, and then click Continue;
- Examine the last two fields, Technical Support by phone e Repairs and Service Coverage, to check the current warranty status. If they haven't expired, they will have an estimated expiration date. You will also have the option to extend the warranty if it is within the original standard warranty period.
One step further: Associating devices with an account
To make this process easier in the future, you may want to link the device to your account. Once you've done that, you'll no longer need to enter your serial number every time you want to open a new support ticket - everything will be linked to your Apple ID.

- Click on the button + Register and add products;
- Enter the serial number and click Continue, just like you did when looking for warranty status;
- Device warranty information will be available when you log in to this area of your account.
