    WWDC 2021

At the event that took place this Tuesday (14), the tech giant revealed not only the new iOS 15 and iPadOS 15, but also launched four new iPhone 13 models, new iPads and the Apple Watch Series 7.

In the iOS 14 updates released over the last few months, Apple has already brought some very interesting features to its operating system, such as the ability to unlock iPhone with Face ID while wearing a mask, the possibility to prevent apps from tracking your device for advertising purposes and the option of four different voices for Siri.

However, iOS 15 brings even more news. New features in iOS 15 include the ability to make FaceTime calls with Android users, easier sharing in iMessage, and better directions in Maps. Read on for everything we've learned about iOS 15 so far, including when it will generally release, how to download it, and some of the biggest new features.

What features will be released in iOS 15?

    SharePlay no iOS 15.
    • SharePlay: A feature that lets you watch movies, series, and listen to music on Apple Music with someone on FaceTime, including Disney+, Hulu, HBO Max, and TikTok. Also, you can control apps in sync with friends.
    • FaceTime no Android e Windows: Now you can generate FaceTime links and invite friends using a Windows desktop or Android smartphone to video call with you.
    • Spatial audio: When using a supported audio setting, spatial audio will make it sound more like your friends' voices are coming from your position on the screen.
    • Voice isolation: Better (and alternate) voice isolation for when you're using FaceTime in a noisy environment.
    • Portrait mode: Camera app portrait mode is coming to FaceTime — in other words, you'll be able to use background blur during your call.

    Focus Mode

    Focus Mode
    • You can use a mode that lets you focus on what you're doing. This mode will work in a customizable way on your smartphone. You can configure the device so that only your work-related applications are updated. The opposite is also possible. You can configure only "personal" apps to send notifications, causing work-related apps and widgets to be in the background. Ideal for your vacation!
    • You can now configure iOS to "hide" less important notifications. That way, the system will display them all at a specific time (like after you woke up, instead of leaving your smartphone notifying you all overnight).

    live text

    live text

The camera can now recognize text in photos (handwritten or printed) and make it selectable, searchable, copyable/pasteable, etc. It can recognize things beyond text, too, including animal and object breeds. The feature is very reminiscent of Android's Google Lens.

    Apple wallet

    Apple wallet

Apple is incorporating home, office and hotel keys into Apple Wallet, allowing you to unlock compatible ports in those places with your iPhone.

You'll be able to check in at select hotels, for example, and have your room key on your iPhone as soon as your room becomes available.

It will also be possible to have an encrypted copy of your driver's license or ID in your Wallet Wallet.

    Apple Maps

    Apple Maps

Apple Maps is getting a detail-focused overhaul, with the addition of 3D elevation maps, 3D-rendered landmarks, crosswalks, bike paths, and more.

Maps is also bringing some features we're familiar with from Google Maps, including a mode that makes you use the camera to scan nearby buildings and more precisely orient the device to help you figure out which direction to head at the start of a hike.

Siri will be able to access third-party apps and devices

Apple says it is opening up Siri to third-party manufacturers and their devices, allowing Siri to work on other smart home devices starting later this year.

    Airpods

    • Conversation Mode: AirPods Pro will now allow you to increase the volume of the voices (and control the volume of ambient noise) of those around you when you are having a conversation in a noisy environment.
    • Find My: AirPods will now work with Find My even when they are in the box, and will be able to alert you if you forget.

    Security

    • The Mail app will now automatically hide your IP address and location from those invisible tracking pixels that marketers love to put in emails. An "App Privacy Report" option in the settings will now summarize how often a particular app accesses your location, photos, etc, to flag any unexpected behavior.
    • Siri speech recognition will now happen on the device, keeping audio recordings off Apple's servers, and allowing Siri commands without an internet connection.
    • You will be able to add recovery contacts to your iCloud account, allowing you to select friends who can help you recover your iCloud account in case you are locked out.
    • You'll also be able to choose "inherited" contacts, who can ask Apple to access your iCloud data if you die.

    Health

    • Your iPhone can now analyze your steps to analyze your "steadiness in walking" so you can predict your risk of falling over time.
    • A summary of "Trends" in the health app will highlight patterns in your step counts, heart rate, etc.
    • The new "Health Sharing" options will allow you to securely share health data with people you trust, such as parents, spouse or children.

So, did you like what's new in iOS 15? It should be noted that some of these features will not arrive exactly with the release of iOS 15, but over time.
