The iPhone can now be unlocked with a mask, thanks to iOS 15.4. It took two months of beta testing for iOS 15.4 to reach its final (stable) version for the general public. The main highlights of the operating system update were Universal Control, unlocking ability through Face ID using a mask, new emojis and more.

How to Download iOS 15.4 Now
To download iOS 15.4 on your iPhone, just go to Settings > General > Software Update. Once this is done, you will be able to see iOS 15.3 to download and install.
As many new features have been added in iOS 15.4, this is a pretty big update. Because of this, keep in mind that the process will take longer than usual and it is recommended to do it in a place that has a stable Wi-Fi internet connection.

Face ID capable of detecting user's face with mask
Probably the main novelty brought with the 15.4 update, the use of Face ID while wearing a mask will considerably facilitate everyday life during this COVID-19 pandemic. According to Apple, its team has worked on developing "unique [scanning] capabilities around the eye area" to be able to authenticate with Face ID when the user is wearing a mask.
After updating to iOS 15.4, the user will go through a new configuration process to make it possible to use Face ID using a mask. Apple reports that Face ID is "most accurate when set to full face recognition only".

New emojis
With the update to iOS 15.4, 37 new emojis were added. The novelty is part of the emoji 14.0 collection.
Universal Control
Originally announced during WWDC 2021, iPad OS 15.4 and macOS 15.3 finally bring the long-awaited "Universal Control" feature. With this tool, the integration of the Apple ecosystem is even better, allowing the user to control multiple Macs and iPads using a single mouse, keyboard and trackpad.
