Apple has released its newest iPad Pro on October 30th, as shown here. The device hits the market with very interesting news, and especially, an even more powerful hardware. Together with the Apple Pencil and the keyboard cover, the new iPad Pro it can end up coming out at a high price and that's why many people look for reviews and experiences with the equipment before investing in it.

Despite its good trajectory and having become the most used tablet in the world, the iPad Pro still needs to be tested to be approved by the public, so some first impressions about the new device are already starting to emerge.

This is the case of engadget, which had the new tablet in hand for 4 days before publishing what it already thinks about it. Remembering that they are still initial impressions and not a complete review, since it takes a little more time for that.

The model used was the 12.9 inches with 1TB of internal storage, with Apple Pencil and keyboard.

New iPad Pro is smaller and lighter

The first impression that stands out with the new iPad Pro is that he is more mild than the original, and even though this weight change is not very big, it makes a difference when using it, especially in prolonged use. It's also 1 millimeter thinner than the old 12.9-inch Pro, and lower.

And this difference is mainly felt in tasks where it is necessary to hold the device with only one hand. Of course, it's worth remembering that it's still a device with a big screen, so people with small hands may prefer to opt for an 11-inch model. Other activities where this difference in size and weight helps is reading or watching videos while having to hold the tablet. Not to mention that it becomes easier to store it in bags and backpacks.

This happens because the new iPad Pro has less edges, and mainly by absence of the Home button, since it is possible to unlock the screen by Face ID in the model presented by the company last week. So the screen stays the same size, while the overall size may decrease because of the thin edges.

USB: a novelty that makes the difference

Apple finally puts a USB-C port on the tablet

Perhaps one of the biggest news about the iPad Pro 2018 for those who will use it on a daily basis is the arrival of USB-C port. Finally Apple gave up on keeping only the company's Lightning port and this could be a game changer for many users. That's because with a USB adapter, it is also possible to gain a variety of connections such as USB-A, SD card slot, Ethernet, among others.

In the tests, a microphone with USB-C input was used, which considerably improved the voice recording for the tablet, a differential that can be important for those who use it to create multimedia content. For those who like to tinker with image editing, it is possible to use a flash drive or an SD card to transfer from the iPad to other devices and vice versa without difficulties, especially for those who work with professional cameras.

But during the experience, there were also some setbacks. A negative point observed was that when placing a USB drive in the input, instead of opening the native iOS file app to transfer images, it opens Photo and tries to import everything that is there at once. The test turned out to be trial and error and it was still not possible to define what works and what cannot be done for sure, even because not even Apple explained this part.

iOS system and touch screen can be a barrier

One of the points explored in these first impressions was precisely to understand if the iPad Pro can arrive as a possible home computer replacement. During the initial testing process, the device was used for various tasks such as writing, editing images, formatting templates, among others. The experience proved to be balanced, but still not enough for the new iPad to earn the title of complete replacement.

The operating system of iOS and the fact that it is a touchscreen device are still barriers to this happening. Some tasks can become more laborious and not very fluid because of these details. Other than that, typing on the keyboard is comfortable and flawless, and image editing has also been trouble-free.
