Review: Razr HD – Spain's first 4G phone

Review: Razr HD – Spain's first 4G phone

It's my time to talk about Motorola Razr HD, which I've been following since the August release. I found it quite interesting at the time, but like anything new in the Motorola, I am always a little apprehensive, due to some known mistakes and oversights by the company in the past.

O Razr HD It is very beautiful, it has a design that today I consider the best option among the devices sold in Spain. The downside is that the battery is fixed and only 2.5mAh, which, considering my usage, is not enough for a full day. But I agree with the opinion of Motorola that this should be enough for most people, I'm really out of the loop, even when compared to hard user friends. He has 4G, but this unfortunately has no value in Spain, due to the lack of broad support for this type of connection by national operators. Apart from one or another experimental city, the 4G still a national legend...

His camera is just ok, but to this day I've never seen a device from Motorola with good camera. Its main “defect” is not having the fast shooter, present in the launches of other competing brands since the Galaxy Nexus (Samsung-Google). For those who have young children, you know how important this is. Since I took the galaxy nexus, I never take just one photo again, registering at least 3 photos (and then confirming which one is better). This has helped A LOT, because now I no longer have problems with people blinking in the photo or even not smiling, etc. And for photographing children, a fast-paced shooter is a delight.

In terms of modifications, the Razr HD already followed the pattern of Razr MAXX with an interface Android with few modifications. The old interface Blur really gone (luckily! =)). The modifications to the menus are quite simple, they just add a little color that should be welcomed by the user. I think it is a small differential for the market, and without a doubt it is something much better than the TouchWiz da Samsung (which I don't particularly like).

The device already comes with the official applications of Twitter e Facebook, that cannot be uninstalled. This should make life easier for a lot of people, but not mine who use the Tweetdeck e FriendCaster. Other apps included by default are the Hail, Netflix, QuickOffice and the games of Shrek Kart e Plants vs Zombies.

The default launcher of the device is very interesting. THE Motorola has inserted a fixed screen with basic system settings on the left, an elegant solution that helps a lay user to basically configure the screens by giving some factory options.

O Smart Actions created exclusively by Motorola it is very useful. You can easily configure various actions on the device based on location or battery. For example, you can set the ringtone volume based on location, that is, you can lower the ringtone when you are at work and increase the volume when you leave (the device automatically adjusts according to GPS information or WiFi connection). For those who like something like this and don't have one Motorola, there are alternatives in Google Play Store like the Llama and Tasker apps.

My final consideration: The device is a great launch, but it hits the market with at least 8 months delay compared to direct competitors. At home I have a Samsung Galaxy Nexus and a Samsung Galaxy SIIIAnd Razr HD is noticeably inferior to both.

In terms of specs, it's just a dual-core with 1GB of RAM, quite modest by today's standards. Furthermore, it comes with Android Icecream Sandwich and, according to Motorola, by the end of the year we will have the update to the version Jelly Bean (4.1), In other words, as we had on 29/10 the announcement of another version of the Android (Jelly bean 4.2), the scheduled update for the Razr HD It's going to be "out of date".

Furthermore, the Razr HD is now on the market for the same price as Galaxy SIII: nearly R$ 1.699. And in this direct fight the Razr HD takes “advantage” just by having support for the 4G. O SIII is already being updated with the version Jelly Bean do Android around the world, and national models should soon receive it. Meanwhile, the Motorola still haven't put the Jelly Bean No. Razr HD nowhere in the world. It's time to speed up, huh Motorola?
