iPhones to be released in 2020 will feature ToF camera, says apple analyst

With the launch of the iPhone 11 approaching in September 2019, it looks like Apple fans are already wanting more. Rumors already speak of the iPhones that will be launched in 2020 and that they must have a rear camera with ToF. The information was given by Apple analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo, in a note sent to investors that was intercepted by the MacRumors website. 

If true, that means iPhones in 2020 will have greater ability to generate 3D images. The ToF camera system is able to calculate the time required for a laser or LED to reflect off objects in a given location - providing more accurate images.

According to Kuo "two of the three new iPhone models to be launched in 2020 will feature a rear camera with ToF". He also said that the three models of the device will have facial recognition. Rumors spoke of biometric readers under the display - which was denied. 

Apple and Huawei are now expected to be the most aggressive smartphone brands in 2020 due to the dominance of 5G and ToF. Kuo helped to reinforce this idea: still in the note in question, the Apple analyst said that to implement ToF would require 5G connectivity, as Apple would want to use this feature to create a "revolutionary AR experience". Therefore, the same models to contain ToF in 2020 will also feature 5G chips.
