iPhones with iOS 14.2 lose 50% of battery in just 30 minutes

iPhones with iOS 14.2 lose 50% of battery in just 30 minutes

Again, Apple devices are the subject of complaints from users, who are currently talking about a problem related to battery drain. Apparently, the flaw began to be presented after installing the iOS 14.2 update, which was released by the company in recent weeks.

Some customers have reported that before the update their smartphones would lose battery charge by 20% to 40% overnight. Now, reports claim that the device is discharged by 50% in just 30 minutes of use. The failure is also noticeable when you put the smartphone to recharge the battery, which happens very quickly even using a slow charger. From the looks of it, the update has generated a bug in the system that does not allow the smartphone to display the correct charge level, which is why it charges and discharges so fast.

"My 2020 SE is getting worse. In the last few weeks it has lost 5% in 5-6 hours. Another oddity is that when charging, it gets very hot and charges very quickly, like a fast charger. But I'm using a 5" charger watts. This started after iOS 14.2 was installed" - reported one user.

As per user reports, the problem occurs more often on older iPhone models such as iPhone XS, iPhone 7, iPhone 6s and iPhone SE. Owners of the 2018 iPad Pro with iPadOS 14.2 have also reported issues with this issue.

Do not update your iPhone or iPad to version 14.2

After many tests, Apple implemented an update to iOS 14.2 with the aim of bringing a set of incremental changes to the system, and among the main ones, a Music Recognition feature was integrated by the Control Center that works together with Shazam , an application that was acquired by Apple a few years ago, in addition to the introduction of the "Now Playing" widget for the device's control interface.

The features really are very interesting for the general public, but with this battery issue, the recommendation is that you don't update your smartphone, at least for now. Apple is expected to fix the bug in iOS 14.3 and iPadOS 14.3, which should be released soon.

If you haven't updated to iOS 14.2 or iPadOS 14.2 yet, you'd better wait for this new firmware to be released.
