Mac Pro 2019 passes iFixit with note 9!

Apple released this month the update of its Mac Pro, the iconic computer was marked when it was launched in 2013, with its cylinder shape, which became a meme all over the internet. Before that, these Apple computers had not yet received off-board video card options.

Now we are facing another meme, also known for having a case that is very similar to a food grater, memes aside, what we have is a new Mac Pro, with absurdly robust configurations, designed for the user base Apple professionals.

Apple learned from its mistakes and the thermal limitations of the 2013 Mac Pro design, and the new Mac Pro features a similar design to the 2012 rectangular Mac Pro, focusing heavily on upgradeability and expandability.

While the 2019 Mac Pro has a more traditional PC form factor than its predecessor, it's still Apple-like, with a stainless steel frame and aluminum housing that provides full access to the hardware.

The handles are built into the frame to make the Mac Pro easier to move around, and going back to the food grater meme, Apple says the design maximizes airflow and allows for quieter performance.

Prices on the Mac Pro start at $6.000, so this machine is no doubt built for professionals who need the best performance available, and its hardware upgrade variations can quickly take the Mac Pro to the $52.000 mark.

iFixIt disassembles Mac Pro 2019 and scores 9 for repairability

The Mac Pro uses Xeon processors with up to 28 cores, is upgradable to up to 1,5TB of RAM and eight PCIe expansion slots, plus next-generation Radeon Pro Vega II Duo GPUs housed in two Apple MPX modules. which Apple says offers an innovative graphics expansion architecture, providing Thunderbolt integration and over 500W of power.

iFixit shared as usual the step-by-step disassembly of the new Mac Pro, giving it a 9 for repairability. Given its modular design, the new Mac Pro scored a near-perfect score, the iFixit noted that basic repairs and upgrades can be performed with standard tools or even without tools.

The main components also use standard sockets and interfaces, from a repair point of view, the only downside is that while SSDs are modular, they are not user-replaceable as they are linked to the Apple T2 security chip.

If you need to remove and replace SSD modules, a support document will prompt you to contact Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider. And that was the exact reason why Mac Pro 2019 did not receive a 10.
