Now will you? Apple and LG close to a deal to build the Apple Car

It is not today that we hear rumors around the supposed Apple Car, a potential Apple project that intends to manufacture electric and autonomous cars. Apple is well known in the market for laptops and other products, such as smartphones, desktops, tablets, headphones and other accessories and services related to this sector. But to create a car, the company needs a partnership with someone who already understands the subject, and who has experience and reference in the area.

That's where automakers come in. From time to time a new rumor is aired on the network stating that Apple is close to signing a deal with some well-known automaker, such as Hyundai, Kia, Nissan and so on. Apparently, none of these manufacturers managed to complete the agreement for the Apple Car project, and so a new path opens up for the Cupertino company.

The new alternative to make the project realistic includes LG, a manufacturer also known in the market of home appliances, smartphones and other laptops, and which also has a joint venture with Magna International, a Canadian car manufacturer.

This partnership between LG and Magna is known as "LG Magna Electronics Powertrain", and according to recent reports, Apple would be interested in relying on the services of this joint venture for future Apple Cars. Internal sources say that this agreement is close to being completed.

    Agreement between Apple and LG

With the LG Magna Powertrain consortium on the scene, Apple would have the chance to manufacture its first generation of electric cars, and assess the product's repercussion among its consumers. This could serve as an impetus for the fabrication of an even more elaborate model in the future.

Magna would produce the entire physical part of the vehicle, from assembling the parts to the final finish, while LG would supply the vehicle systems hardware to the supply chain thanks to its subsidiary brands such as LG Display, LG Energy Solution and LG. Innotek. Apple would finish the whole process just by inserting its on-board system, with virtual assistant, camera sensors and radars for autonomous driving.

Although none of the companies involved has commented on this alleged agreement, the production of the Apple Car through this contract seems viable, and it would serve Apple at least to get the project off the ground. In the case of LG, which recently announced its exit from the smartphone market, this also promises to be an interesting deal.
