Redmi's Next 64MP Camera Phone Will Produce 20MB Images

Yesterday Xiaomi's Chinese subsidiary, Redmi, announced on the social network Weibo that its next cell phone will have a camera with a 64-megapixel sensor, providing a resolution far above what we are used to so far. Today, the company released another image on the Chinese social network Weibo showing more details about the new camera that will be implemented.

According to the post made on the social network, images will be produced with very high resolution, extremely detailed and each image can have a size of up to 20MP. That is, there will be a lot of information stored in the photo files compared to the images produced by the 48MP sensors that generate images up to 16MP in size. Adding an extra 4MB may seem like it's not substantially different, but the results are impressive.

However, we have to remember that, similar to current 48MP Quad-Bayer implementations, 64MP sensors will not capture 64MP stills. The intention is to produce high quality 20MP images, so it's simply marketing. Even so, we are still excited to test these new state-of-the-art sensors.
