The Mi Pad 5 was scheduled to launch last month along with Xiaomi's other devices, but that didn't happen. The tablet gathers a series of rumors and leaks about its technical specifications, varying according to the chosen model. The device is the Chinese manufacturer's proposal to compete with tablets sold by Samsung and Apple, pioneer companies in this segment.
Mi Pad 5: what do we know so far?
According to DigitalChatStation, the Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 will increase the screen size from 8 inches to around 11 inches. It's about the same size as Apple's iPad, whose launch of the new generation has been delayed until this month.
Previous rumors indicate that the device will come with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 processor, in addition to having a 2-inch 10,95K resolution LCD screen and 144Hz refresh rate. Reports so far show that this screen will come from Huaxing Optoelectronics/BOE. In addition, the tablet will come with a special MIUI system called by the company "MIUI for Pad". The firmware will bring similar features to what we find in Windows, bringing the multi-window mode to the mobile version.
The Mi Pad 5 will hit the market in two versions, one lite and one common. The smaller model will come with the MediaTek Dimensity 1200 processor, while the larger one will come with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 and an 8.000mAh battery, guaranteeing an autonomy of up to two days unplugged.
Previous rumors reported that the tablet would come with the SD 888 in its most powerful version, but this was discarded after new leaks. It is also speculated that the tablet will receive a side fingerprint scanner and pen support; which will allow you to compete with the best solutions from Samsung, Apple and Huawei.

Launch
The expectation was that the tablet would be revealed at the launch event of the Mi Band 6 and the new smartphones of the Mi 11 line, but that did not happen. For now, there is still no date for when Xiaomi will officially reveal the Mi Pad 5, but it is likely that it will only be from the second half of the year.
The launch of the laptop will end a three-year wait on Xiaomi's tablet lineup. The last one was the Mi Pad 4 Plus launched in 2018.
