Review: 4200mAh battery for the Samsung Galaxy SIII

Review: 4200mAh battery for the Samsung Galaxy SIII

A little history: since I bought my first Androidthe HTC G1, “suffer” constantly with battery problems, or rather, with the lack of it. In fact, there were few times I went through situations where I ran out of battery, but it is very constant to always have a cable microUSB ou loader the hand. I'm a heavy 3G user (I only have WiFi close to my house), I read a lot of emails, subscribe to mailing lists, access my Twitter e Facebook, all by cell phone. As if that wasn't enough, my cell phone provider isn't the best in coverage (luckily, this is my last week there).

For these reasons, I've been dating for some time now. Batteries capacity for my smartphone, currently a Galaxy SIII da Samsung (GT-i9300). Well…. I had a concern in the choice: I didn't want any battery, or that could cause me any kind of problem. So I searched for quite some time and after reading an XDA-Developers forum thread with brands/models and battery life, my choice was made.

I ended up opting for the battery Hyperion, as it was the one with the best review and most recommended XDA, beating more than 7h of active screen in their benchmark. This battery has 4200mAh capacity and has an antenna for the NFC (yes, some batteries make this feature useless on the smartphone, as they do not have an antenna).

On my first day with her, I decided to use my cell phone without connecting it to inputs. USB in no time, not even to get files, nothing. I unplugged the phone around 7:30 am and at 23 pm it still had 15% battery. What was my use? foursquare, Twitter, Facebook and about 4h of music. All the time with active account syncs and 4h screen on.

It's the result? In my opinion, an excellent performance. Another point I was asked: the cell phone is still the same, it's not hot anymore or anything like that. And the battery took more than 5h to charge from 15% to 100%.

Well, not everything is flowers, everything has its cost: the cell phone has practically doubled its size and weight. The back cover has a good fit, but far from being perfect like the original. The color is also slightly different, with the material being visibly less resistant, made of a rigid plastic:

I will spend a few more days using this battery to see if its performance is maintained. For those interested, I bought it at Ebay directly from the manufacturer, both the Hyperion 4.200mAh Battery and the protective cover (TPU Cover).

For those interested, next week I will review a new external battery. Until then!
