    REVIEW: Galaxy M62 is a great mid-ranger with gigantic battery

    arrives in Spain Galaxy M62, successor of Galaxy M51, which has internal improvements in addition to, of course, the formidable 7.000 mAh that marked the M51. Despite this, the internal changes are not so significant. Is he an intermediary worth your attention? Check out Techlifers' full review of the Galaxy M62.

    Design

    The front part looks very similar to models in the same price range of the Samsung, with the screen predominating for the most part, leaving few edges showing, especially at the bottom, and only a small notch (notch) is in the center to house the front camera.

    REVIEW: Galaxy M62 is a great mid-ranger with gigantic battery
    The use of the screen is great, leaving a small hole for the camera.

    On the back, we have a curious design choice from Samsung, which features a gradient between blue and silver, with small lines extending across the entire back, silver on the blue part, and blue on the silver part. I believe that the intention was to bring a different color to the line, but it would have been more beautiful if they had chosen solid colors, as usual. The black version also has a silver gradient.

    REVIEW: Galaxy M62 is a great mid-ranger with gigantic battery
    The back of the Galaxy M62 is a big decoy for fingerprints, so get a protective case as soon as possible.

    The camera array is inside a small square, with the flash at the bottom; unfortunately, he was not invited to the smartphone's skipped region. This jumped region is not quite different from the set, since this model is 9,5 mm high, to be able to hold its immense battery. It is indeed a thicker smartphone than you are used to, but the proposal of a huge battery makes up for it, and there is still the small benefit of the camera arrangement not being completely out of line with the rest of the rear.

    On the right, we have the buttons to increase / decrease the volume and below, the fingerprint sensor. On the left, there is only the carrier chip drawer.

    REVIEW: Galaxy M62 is a great mid-ranger with gigantic battery
    Sides bring operator drawer, volume buttons and fingerprint sensor.

    At the top there is a microphone and at the bottom we have a P2 input, a UBS-C input, plus a microphone and a speaker (mono).

    REVIEW: Galaxy M62 is a great mid-ranger with gigantic battery
    The top of the smartphone is practically smooth, leaving the bottom in charge of various functions.

    Screen and Sound

    The screen M62 is of the Super AMOLED Plus type, has 6,7 inches and Full HD+ resolution. With a density of 393 pixels per inch, it has quality to spare, very intense brightness, deep blacks and very vivid colors. The screen size is still super favorable for watching your favorite series, as it has a very comfortable size to watch from a short distance. The only flaw of the screen is not having a refresh rate above 60 Hz. It remains stuck in that number, which is a shame, because 90 Hz or even 120 Hz would greatly benefit those who enjoy smartphone games.

    REVIEW: Galaxy M62 is a great mid-ranger with gigantic battery
    The screen is great for games and movies, with high-end FULL HD+ resolution.

    As it is an extended Full HD type, the screen allows you to use the pinch movement to enjoy your content, taking full advantage of the screen. It is understandable who is reluctant to use this type of function, after all, you will lose a part of the image information, but it is extremely pleasant to use the Galaxy M62 with a good brightness and full screen.

    The sound quality isn't impressive, but it doesn't disappoint. Mono sound is expected for smartphones in this category, and it's good enough for listening to music alone or watching videos close to your face without headphones — headphones that, unfortunately, don't come with the model in the box.

    Cameras

    REVIEW: Galaxy M62 is a great mid-ranger with gigantic battery
    Galaxy M62 brings quad camera set with good versatility.

    The camera system Galaxy M62 it's composed by:

    • 64MP main camera;
    • 12MP ultrawide camera, 123º field of view and f/2.2 aperture;
    • 5MP macro camera and f/2.4 aperture;
    • 5MP depth sensor and f/2.4 aperture;
    • 32MP main front camera;
    • LED flash.

    What we have here is a complete camera array that won't let you down! The front camera is great and you can use it either at regular distance, 1.0x, or a little distance, 0.5x, great for group selfies. A super useful mode for those who need to take several selfies until they are happy, is the Single Take mode (single shot) that takes several photos at once for a few seconds.

    The main camera gives a lot of quality to the image and the ultrawide camera comprises an excellent amount of information within its 123º field of view.

    But not only with landscapes, the Galaxy M62's camera array is competent. Exploring in bright spots, I managed to be a huge nuisance to the cat who barely knew she was being used as a model.

    The macro camera does not impress, but it fulfills its role very well, of bringing quality at close range. On the cell phone it says “approach between 3 and 5 cm away from the object” and, fortunately, this distance is doable, making it possible to keep the photographed object in focus.

    As for filming with the Galaxy M62, all the quality of the photographs are also present here. THE smartphone shoots up to Ultra HD (3840 × 2160) with both the rear camera (including ultrawide camera) and the front camera. A feature that makes the footage even better is the “Super Steady” mode, which serves to correct any jitters and make the video smoother.

    Performance

    REVIEW: Galaxy M62 is a great mid-ranger with gigantic battery
    Samsung equips the M62 with the Exynos 9825, a chipset developed by the brand itself.

    The chipset is the Exynos 9825, the same as Galaxy Note 10. It is already becoming common for companies to equip their devices with high-end chipsets from previous years, in this case, the Exynos 9825 is from the 2nd half of 2019, but it still has firepower that can and should be used. In addition, there are 8 GB of RAM, 128 GB of internal storage and the latest version of Android, Android 11.

    A tricky fact that always catches the attention of technology enthusiasts — and consequently, of the specialized media — is whether the Exynos performance is good, or whether it is being problematic for the device, since the chipsets developed by the company itself Samsung They tend to get hot-headed very easily. In my research, I noticed that several users attested to a quick heating up of the smartphone, even in everyday moments like after a quick video recording.

    REVIEW: Galaxy M62 is a great mid-ranger with gigantic battery
    The Exynos 9825's performance is surprising and it didn't show significant heats even in the most intense tests.

    Interestingly, my experience was the complete opposite. I tried in many ways to get him too hot, and it struck me that not have made it. I took pictures and recorded videos abusing screenshots during filming, switching between cameras and nothing made him heat up. So I tried Mortal Kombat Mobile for more than half an hour with brightness, sound and graphics in the best quality and the performance, besides being great, warmed up just what you normally expect.

    Going then to the “final challenge” with the Exynos 9825, I played Asphalt 9 with everything maxed out and listened to music through Spotify at the same time, and only then did I start to feel it hot, but only after 10 minutes of playing and music and in contact. directly with the smartphone — no case interfering, which usually mitigates the feeling of heat. Having said that, I can say that in my perception, the Exynos 9825 is serving very well to Galaxy M62, bringing a satisfactory performance of an intermediate smartphone above two thousand reais.

    Battery

    Here's the big highlight. It has no less than 7.000 mAh of battery, the same amount as the Galaxy M51, but honestly, there's no need for a bigger number than that — remembering that smartphones with large battery usually have between 4.000 and 5.5000 mAh, regardless of the price range.

    In practice, it will last 3 full days when using your smartphone moderately — using WhatsApp, making calls, taking notes, taking photos, entering social networks and watching some videos. Particularly, I only put it to charge in the late morning of the fourth day of the battery, around 11 am, so it is just as possible to charge it both in the evening of the third day and in the late morning of the fourth day, which is simply unrealistic. , positively.

    Very intensive use — keeping multiple apps open, bright brightness, playing games and watching videos, series and even movies — will still guarantee two full days, most of the time, with the battery below 20% before bedtime on the second night. .

    As I mentioned before, playing Asphalt 9 with everything maxed out and listening to songs on Spotify at the same time, over two straight hours of gameplay, I made the battery drop from 60% to 30%, that is, in a super intense game of 2 hours, the Galaxy M62 lost only 30% of battery, formidable result.

    REVIEW: Galaxy M62 is a great mid-ranger with gigantic battery
    The good performance benefits from the immense battery, which needs less than two hours to fully charge.

    In addition to all, the Samsung it sends a 25 W Turbo charger in the box. From 0 to 100%, it took 1h48. It seems like a long time, but remember that this battery is the size of a truck. This charger is powerful and very welcome — as an ordinary 15 W charger would take a soooo long time to fully charge this model.

    Digital and Facial Recognition

    O Galaxy M62 can be unlocked either way. The fingerprint is on the upper right side, in a position that for righties is great for the thumb and for lefties, for the index finger. A sensor on the back of the smartphone or directly on the screen would be more interesting, but this is not a big problem. It is very fast, just touch the sensor for the screen to unlock. Standard tip for any smartphone with digital unlocking: register the same finger more than once to increase performance.

    Facial recognition works quickly — especially if the “Lift to wake” function is on, so the screen lights up when you lift your smartphone — but since it doesn’t have a dedicated sensor, it’s better to forget about it if you’re in the dark. As the recognition is done entirely through the camera, in dark environments opt for the fingerprint.

    Conclusion

    REVIEW: Galaxy M62 is a great mid-ranger with gigantic battery
    The M62's bottom line is positive and it's a mega battery smartphone to keep an eye on.

    O Galaxy M62 presents itself as an intermediate smartphone full of good features, developed with good quality. What is disappointing is the fact that it does not present such a significant evolution in relation to the Galaxy M51, its predecessor launched at the beginning of the year that came precisely with the proposal of being a smartphone with 7.000 mAh battery. The main differences between the models are in the design (point for the M51) and performance (point for the M62).

    As much as the taste of want more is in your mouth, if you are interested precisely in an intermediate with a huge battery, the M62 is a superior model to the M51, and with a price that, fortunately, does not escape reality. the price of Galaxy M62 is R$3.499, but the truth is that you will hardly pay much more than R$2.000 for it. Under this price range, you can go without fear, the M62 in addition to not having a competitor with a superior battery, it is an excellent mid-range model that is worth your attention.
