Next to the Z Fold3, the Galaxy Z Flip3 5G is one of the main and most awaited launches in the catalog of Samsung in this year. Known for its unique folding display technology, the device is the company's bet to win over the consumer in an efficient and, at the same time, unique model. In addition, it is also one of the premium phones that directly competes with Apple's iPhone 13.

O Techlifers had the opportunity to receive the Z Flip3 5G and thoroughly tested its features and what is special about it. In a market as competitive as smartphones, standing out has never been more complex. Samsung persists in the concept of practicality combined with a sophisticated design, which is the main feature of this device. Check out all the details below in our review.

    Design

If presenting a cell phone to the public is important, the Galaxy Z Flip3 5G It's certainly a hit by Samsung. After all, this one is the most distinguishable among all the others. At 6,7 inches, the screen is designed to close vertically and easily fit into small pockets, revealing the design, consisting of a solid color and a clock display alongside the two front cameras.

The available versions are in cream, green, violet and black. THE Techlifers received a model in cream color and it is very pleasing to the eyes. The box that brings the device is very compact, containing only the cell phone, a user manual and a USB-C type charger cable. This illustrates the company's bet to present a device that takes up less space, but also denounces the tendency of smartphone producers to reduce cell phone items and accessories - especially headphones and charging source.

As it is possible to fold the screen, it is thought that the act itself is very delicate in order not to damage the screen. In fact, the process is much safer. The phone has embossed edges to reduce impact and protect the screen. That way, the user doesn't create friction between the actual display material. Around the Z Flip3 5G are the power and volume buttons (both on the right), the chip input (on the left) and the USB input (below).

The design is really sophisticated and it's an experience you don't see in other models. Probably, this is the biggest success of the device, which wins the consumer with his eyes, even before using it. Although it's a luxurious bet (see the launch price), the Z Flip3 5G can add a lot to the day-to-day charm for those who can afford such technology.

    screen and performance

REVIEW: Galaxy Z Flip3 5G wins over consumer for sophisticated design
    (Image: Fernando Gomes/Techlifers)

As said before, the screen is 6,7 inches and brings several features during use. 2x Dynamic AMOLED technology allows the display of images, video, games and other content with vibrant and detailed colors on the display, which surrounds the entire screen - this one with the protection Gorilla Glass Foods against falls and collisions, in addition to the certification IPX8 against water. The resolution is 1080×2640 pixels, at a density of 446 ppi. There are 16 million colors forming on the display.

In the case of the rear display, it basically works for viewing notifications or taking a photo. The display is 1,9 inches, with Super AMOLED. While interesting, its role is very situational. The most innovative point would be to record content with the great quality of the rear camera (which we will discuss later).

Equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888, the Z Flip3 5G has good browsing performance, especially a great refresh rate of 120Hz. Apps and tools open quickly, without much effort. The experience is fluid and very beneficial. A differential in relation to other cell phones even from the brand itself.

A very interesting detail is the fold present in the middle of the smartphone screen. Before using it, it is possible to assume that perhaps the gap between the two parts of the display is not very responsive to touch. This turned out to be the opposite. The Z Flip3 5G is able to identify touches even in the intersecting area of the screen, which is of great importance, since the company itself suggests the quality of this technology.

Another relevant factor is that, when swiping a feed from a social network, for example, the fold does not jump out and allows linear navigation. It is only noticeable if viewed from a lower angle, which becomes just a detail. As a whole, the Z Flip3 5G is quite competent in what it proposes in relation to the transmission and performance of on-screen content.

    Cameras

The Galaxy Z Flip3 5G has three cameras. Two rears - one Wide and a Ultra-Wide —, 12MP each, and a front, 10MP. The lens apertures are 1.8 and 2.2, respectively. The device brings some features for the user to be able to boost their photos.

Starting from the rear, both cameras do a great day job. Photo and Portrait modes ensure clean and crisp shots. The system incorporates optical stabilization and autofocus to facilitate photographs in which faces appear, for example. As always, the user can also adjust the brightness by hand and quickly edit small nuances. The photos are taken in HDR, a feature that is already public knowledge and is always very welcome.

However, the topic that most impresses is the very high quality of the videos recorded on this cell phone. With recordings in up to 4K 60 FPS, the device gives a show of immersion and manages to capture the most detailed features in front of you, especially strong colors and very marked textures. The result is so detailed that it is possible to observe every perfection (or imperfection) of the figure or recording object.

already the camera front also does not lag behind and is the most versatile part of this topic. With 2.4 aperture on the lens, it records great in daylight and captures beautiful landscapes. The videos on the front are also recorded in 4K, but at 30 FPS. That doesn't make portraits any less fruitful. The lens still manages to perform face detection very well and helps in the photo production process.

As with other models, the problem with cameras occurs when the sun has already set. During the night, records suffer a little from the quality setting and appear grainy, especially if the user tries to zoom in. Unfortunately, the experience doesn't end up being the same as during the day and this is the biggest disappointment of this phone.

The Z Flip3 5G is a cell phone that, as announced by Samsung, is aimed at a versatile audience that loves practicality in everyday life. This is a feature very well translated to cameras, as it allows the user to experience different and non-traditional angles, such as positioning the device 'sitting' (at 90º) on a surface.

In view of these novelties, it is possible to say that the cameras should attract more attention from the curious and content producers, who tend to explore more types of photographs and recordings than more traditional users.

    sound and drums

The Z Flip3 5G's speakers output sound through two outputs. (Video: Fernando Gomes/Techlifers)

Audio is a topic that often appears on smartphones as highly praised or highly criticized. The Z Flip3 5G is equipped with stereo speakers, which output the sound at both ends of the device, and these have a good quality.

The bass and treble are well accented and balanced. In addition, the audio is very loud even with the volume not too high, which demonstrates the power of 32 bits and 384 kHz. Overall, the experience is very pleasant.

The battery has its ups and downs. Starting with the cable, which has a good size, but lacks a charging source, which is bad for the consumer. The phone is equipped with a 3300 mAh Li-Po battery that promises fast charging — and really delivers — but, on the other hand, its duration could be longer. After a while of use, still, the upper back starts to heat up a little beyond ideal.

This is probably a consequence of the various integrations within the device, in addition to the multiple and fast access to the system through the screen. But for a premium release like this, the result could be more promising.

    Price and availability

O Galaxy Z Flip3 5G is now available at the Samsung store and from several other distributors around Spain.

With 8GB of RAM memory and versions of 128GB e 256GB of internal storage, the price of the cell phone in the national market can reach more than R$ 8.000. At the Submarino, you can find the Z Flip3 5G for R$ 6.299,10.

One of the premium models available on the market, the Galaxy Z Flip3 5G is an ambitious and sophisticated device that rescues the essence of Samsung in a folding model that promotes practicality and versatility for the creative user's routine.

While it works like one, this isn't exactly a traditional cell phone. It sounds much more like a separate experience for the production and study of content than really for personal use. Perhaps companies see the device as a nice business option.

The latest release of Samsung it does offer a good experience for what it proposes, but, at the same time, it lacks some details that are present in much cheaper models and that should be indispensable in one of the most expensive models today.
