Review: LG WebOS LB6500 Smart TVs (39 to 65 inches)

Resourceful, the Smart TVs are not always so “smart” to teach the consumer how to use their features and functionality. Menus tend to be increasingly complex and with options that users end up leaving aside.

Thinking about it, the LG Electronics, who bought the elegant operating system WebOS da HP in February 2013, decided to apply it to the new Smart TVs of the line LB6500 this year. And the result left us speechless. See why:

    Layout and Finishing:

Review: LG WebOS LB6500 Smart TVs (39 to 65 inches)

A LG is already known by Spanish consumers for bringing to the market models of Smart TVs with high quality screens, minimal bezels and competitive price. The model LB6500 is no different. It has an elegant, thin design with metallic edges. the back of Smart TV is white and the support is also metallic, located on both sides of the device. THE LG managed to leave this Smart TV even lighter, making it easy to handle by just one person.

    Display:

the screen of TV LG LB6500 has shape 16:9, suitable for films, and is composed of a panel IPS LED Display with resolution 1920 × 1080 pixels ou 1080p (FullHD). through technology LED Direct, it provides true-to-life colors and deeper black tones. In our tests, the image really proved to be superior to models from the previous line of LG.

A LB7000 It has a 55-inch Full HD screen and uses the manufacturer's own IPS panel, an absolute reference in image quality. This type of screen is present in the main modern TVs from LG and in a large number of smartphones, whether they are manufactured by LG or not.

Among the main advantages of the hardware is the angulation of the image, that is, even if you are not exactly in front of the screen, you will not have problems with color distortions. IPS also offers a much better response time than other panels, as well as guaranteeing higher brightness and contrast ratios.

The most detailed image settings are made through an on-screen assistant, which is already traditional for the brand's televisions. It always offers two or more images so that you can compare them side by side, choosing the one you think is the most correct.

Image refresh rate or frequency is not the highest found in Smart TVs: 120 Hz, but it ensures that you don't see “ghosting” or experience slow transitions from fast-paced images, as in sports matches and action movies. Anyway, this is a downside.

    Audio:

The model has two technologies that promise to improve audio quality. They are the function Virtual Surround Plus, which gives the listener the feeling that the sound is coming from above and from the sides; it's the Smart Sound, which automatically identifies the type of content being played and ensures the best equalization.

In general, the sound of TV is excellent and manages to faithfully represent the presented content, using the two side boxes. It may be sufficient in smaller environments, or complemented with Home Theaters ou Soundbars.

    Web OS system:

Review: LG WebOS LB6500 Smart TVs (39 to 65 inches)

O WebOS left the initial configuration of Smart TV much more practical. From the first steps of the configuration, the options are presented in minimalistic and very simplified menus. It is incredibly simple to use, even for those unfamiliar with electronics. The icons are big, the control is friendly and the response is fast. The use becomes even easier with the use of the “pointer” style control, the Smart Magic.

To help the user, the company created the BeanBird, a cute pet that gives tips on each step of configuring the TV. It can be said that, with the WebOS, the LG has taken the user interfaces (UI) to perfection in TVs. See below the demo video, showing how the system facilitates the use of the device:

Navigating through the menus aplicativos e TV channels It is made with immense ease and beauty. After connecting to TV, just shake the control at any time, and a colorful menu with tabs and information appears on the screen.

There are 3 main menus. The first displays recently opened apps, the second apps that you can open and run simultaneously in multitasking, and the third, the most relevant, is the apps menu. Popular apps like Netflix, YouTube e Skype are already pre-installed, but you can do the download for free From others apps, and even movies of your choice, in the app store of LG.

    Controle Smart Magic:

Made with technology similar to the controller Wii da Nintendothe Smart Magic It's a pointer-style remote control. It acts like an on-screen mouse and makes it easy to select options and channels. Renovated, it is already part of the premium line of TVs by LG for some time, and it gains special utility with the menu of the WebOS, which displays the main information on the screen only.

It is light years from the traditional controller (also present as an accessory of the series), eliminating buttons and numbers that you rarely use, in favor of something more ergonomic and practical. And if you want more control options, this TV lets you gesture command (camera required) or smartphones e tablets (with LG's own or third-party application).

    Triple XD Engine

O Triple XD Engine is an image processing technology, responsible for optimizing the contrast through a dynamic adjustment system to enrich the details in light and dark scenes, further improving the colors in general.

To top it off, the system can improve the sharpness of images through special processing done on images displayed at a lower resolution than the TV screen. These filters ensure superior image quality, giving more sharpness and reducing noise. The result of all this is quite satisfactory, including on open TV broadcasting, where some programs are shown with lower quality.
