Rumors: Apple may launch iPhones 14 PRO with 2 TB version

On the 22nd of October, Apple should make available in stores in Spain, the new line of iPhone 13. In short, in the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max versions, Apple offers the storage expansion from 512 MB to 1 TB. However, there are rumors that the manufacturer is still not satisfied with the capacity, and should further elevate memory in the next generation of smartphones.

According to rumors released by China's MyDrivers website, Apple employees are testing a QLC flash memory. The same use 4 bits per cell, and thus replaces the TLC memory, with 3 bits per cell, that is currently used. In short, this should provide a reduced component costs for Apple, in addition to the possibility of offering a capacity up to 2TB.

New family of iPhones with 2TB version

The switch to QLC flash memory may have a third reason, as well as technical and economic. It's no secret that manufacturers find it difficult to supply chips.

That said, Apple had to redo some component purchase commitments for the iPhone 13. And that, seems to have been continued into the production of the next generation of devices.

QLC memory has a lower data write resistance rating. And so, it has fewer usage cycles than other technologies. However, even if used extensively, iPhones in 2022, with QLC should last YEARS.

Although MyDrivers is not an official source, the site has already revealed accurate details about Apple products. Prior to the iPad Air release announcement, the website gave precise information such as USB-C, A14 processor, and design changes. In addition, the site also released real data about the M1 iPad Pro this year.

    Sophistication of PRO versions

From the inclusion of new features in the devices, it is normal for smartphones to demand more memory to operate. An example of this is the addition of the ProRes 4K video option, which Apple added in the iPhone 13 PRO. Each minute filmed consumes around 6 GB of storage.

However, as with the iPhone 13, Apple should save the most powerful settings, such as 2 TB memory, for the PRO version. And so, the regular iPhone 14 should have a storage of up to 1TB.
