The way people consume movies, music and even books has changed a lot in the last few years, not only because of the fact that it is very much out of the conventional way of having physical things and going to something almost 100% digital, but also because of the practicality of moving it all. THE JustWatch made a survey of the most popular streaming services here in Spain in the first quarter of 2021 and this may help you to choose what to subscribe to.
This list will be a kind of TOP 5, going from the least popular streaming to the most popular. In addition, I will leave all the information necessary for you to be able to subscribe to the one you are interested in, as well as details about each package.
The fifth place is a very specific case of the list, because we don't have just one, but two streaming services, being the Telecine Play and the HBO GO, both with 7%. O Telecine Play, unlike Netflix, for example, does not have several plans with different ways of using the product, however, we have some interesting combos that connect it to other services. The price of Telecine Play, alone, goes by R$ 37,90 and entitles you to up to 5 profiles, 3 simultaneous screens, more than 2000 movies and 30 days free to test the service. If there is interest in combos, the site is offering a promotion on Telecine combos with Globoplay, which are Telecine+Globoplay and Telecine+Globoplay+Canais ao Vivo, respectively.
The price of Telecine+Globoplay was R$ 60,00 and it's for R$ 49,90 and the most robust with Live Channels was R$ 87,90 and became R$ 74,90. These prices are monthly and the live channels included are: Globo, Futura, Multishow, GloboNews, Viva, SporTV 1, 2 and 3, GNT, Studio Universal, Gloob, Gloobinho, Megapix, Universal, MAIS, SYFY, OFF and BIS.
A availability of Telecine Play looks like this: Android 5.0 or higher, iOS 11 or higher, Smart TVs Samsung, LG, Sony and Panasonic, all Chromecasts, Apple TV and Xbox One.
HBO GO / HBO MAX
A HBO it is the equivalent of Telecine, but with the bonus of having a series in the catalogue. And as you all know, great series. Game of Thrones, Westworld, Lovecraft Country and Watchmen (my favorite so far) are just a few examples. However, it is impossible to talk about HBO without mentioning the transition of the company's services in our country. Before talking about prices I would like to create a hypothesis here. Before, the HBO service was only subscribed to its series and it was something very niche, but now that it has much more original content, Warner series - including obviously Friends - and even the Champions League, the service will probably take off in the next few years. months. O HBO GO no longer exists and in its place we now have the HBO Max. HBO GO subscribers, regardless of how they subscribed, will automatically migrate to the new service. For new subscribers to the service I have good news. HBO Max arrived in our country in two plans: Mobile and Multiscreen. Mobile only works on tablets and smartphones and works on 1 device at a time. Image quality is adapted depending on the device. Multiscreen is the most robust plan and will work on everything. With it you can use up to 3 simultaneous screens and create up to 5 profiles, in addition to image quality up to 4k.
Official prices are at R$ 19,97 on the mobile plan and R$ 28,00 in the multiscreen, however the company has a launching promotion until the 31st of July. By subscribing until that date, the mobile plan comes out for BRL 9,95/month and the multiscreen BRL 13,95/month, having a 50% discount and this discount will remain as long as you are a subscriber, being a great deal.
O HBO Max came with the intention of working on everything, including Smart TVs, consoles (PS4 and 5, Xbox One and Series S/X), Computers and Tablets, as well as devices like Amazon's Fire TV, which unfortunately is not yet working with the app.
Globoplay — 4th placeGlobo's main streaming service has become very popular in recent times. If in other services the exclusives are series and foreign films, here we have the differential of the catalog of soap operas on the Globo network. Of the services mentioned here, Globoplay is the one that has the most variety of plans, as it has a partnership with many other services. Currently, by subscribing to any of the plans you will already get 3 months of Apple TV+ and 1 year of Deezer Premium, which makes the subscription quite interesting. Speaking of them, let's get into the details.
The simplest cost R$ 22,90 per month and entitles you to the entire catalog of balloon play, except live channels. This plan also has an annual variant where it stays at 12x R$ 14,90 in a total of R$ 178,80. The subscription with live channels starts in R$ 49,90 per month and also has an annual version where it costs 12 R$ 42,90, totalizing R$ 514,80. In addition to these two main ones, we have several combinations with Disney +, Premiere e Telecine and that start at values from the R$ 43,90.
The availability of Globoplay is a little more restricted, working only on Smart TVs, Roku, Chromecast and apps for Android and iOS.
Disney+ — 3rd placeThe world's most famous mouse streaming service arrived in Spain late last year. It's interesting how quickly it became popular and despite not having passed the main ones in the field (Netflix and Prime Video), it remains stable and growing. And that's not for less, after all, it brought with it all the Disney classics, the Star Wars universe, MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe), NatGeo and Pixar in a single service.
Series like The Mandalorian, WandaWision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and the current Loki are some of the most popular things in the service's catalog. For the nostalgic, shows like the 90s X-Men are available, in addition to the many Disney Channel teen shows and movies like Wizards of Waverly Place, Hannah Montana, and Camp Rock.
If your intention is to follow the releases of these universes or to miss them, the service will be a great choice. Although Fox is now part of Disney as well, at least here in Spain the “heavier” movies and series have become part of a different signature called Star +. Only in it will it be possible to watch movies like Deadpool 1 and 2, Logan or the 32 seasons of The Simpsons, in addition to several other productions from FX, 20th Century Fox, Star, NatGeo and sports-related content with the ESPN brand will also be included.

Amazon Prime Video — 2nd placeA Amazon gained enormous popularity in Spain after it updated its prices, making it easier to access its services here, be they Premium in the store, the Prime Video, Kindle or Amazon Music. The good price helped by the good range of movies and series made Amazon streaming become one of the most popular in Spain, being in the top 2 in the country. With a Prime membership you also gain access to the benefits of Prime gaming and by linking your Prime account in games and Twitch, you earn rewards every month, including 1 free prime for your favorite streamer.
Despite the strange and not very functional design, the Prime Video has many movies that are not found on the main competitor, Netflix. In addition, we have a lot of original content here too, such as the very famous The Boys, Good Omens, American Gods, Invincible, The Man in the High Castle and even Spanish series like the recent Dom.
Recently, Amazon bought the MGM, owner of franchises such as 007 – James Bond, Rocky, Robocop, The Silence of the Lambs, Chuck and many others. These may or may not soon be part of the Prime Video catalog at no additional cost, apart from the possibility of new productions with them.
Another interesting point of Prime Video, but one that messes with the wallet, is that it can host other channels and streaming services. Paramount +, Starz Play, the very MGM, Loggin, Looke and even the Premiere can be added to your Prime Video subscription, but at an additional cost.

Like Disney+, the Prime Video It doesn't have many subscription options. The great attraction of the service, however, is that it is very affordable. With the value of R$ 9,90 per month you become a subscriber to the service and gain access to all the Prime benefits I mentioned. There is also the annual subscription plan that goes for R$ 89,00. It is important to point out that the services Kindle unlimited e Music Unlimited are not included in the package.

Netflix — 1st placeAnd first on our list is the famous and often overrated Netflix. With the most interesting look and ideas for the performance of apps and their players, the famous Red N was the pioneer platform in this streaming service business and it's no coincidence that it's the most popular.
Currently, the service has great productions in both movies and series and some examples are Stranger Things, The Umbrella Academy, La Casa de Papel, Daredevil, The Irishman and good thrillers like The Dark Man, Escape and The Haunting of Hill House.
A Netflix is a great streaming service if we take all its benefits into consideration, however, with the launch of competitors, it started to become an option that for its price may not be worth it. Original productions when they are series in cartoons almost always get it right, but in movies they still need to mature a lot. Another point that has been very positive on the platform is the wide variety of anime that has been added to the catalog; most are still gaining excellent Spanish dubs. Two good recent examples are One Piece and Jojo.

As I said before, Netflix is great at what it proposes, but it lacks in prices. The simplest starts in R$ 21,90 and offers only 1 screen with maximum quality of 480p. The standard plan comes out for R$ 32,90, Full HD image quality (1080p) and up to 2 simultaneous screens. Finally, we have the Premium package that goes for R$ 45,90 with quality up to 4K and HDR and allows up to 4 simultaneous screens.
As you can see, Netflix prices are the highest in this market. If we take HBO Max, Disney+ and Prime Video, none of them exceeds R$30,00 in their subscriptions and they all include benefits such as profiles and multiple simultaneous screens. It's hard to say if there will be any adjustments to those Netflix prices, but it's something that would be more than welcome now that we have major competitors in this market.
