The likely specs of the new 2019 iPhone lineup

With less than a week to go until the launch of the iPhone 2019, the internet is buzzing with new Apple devices. Let's talk about what we expect from the next iPhone in terms of specs, release date, design, new features and the price.

We already know for sure that Apple will hold an event on September 10th, as the company has launched invitations to journalists. Therefore, we can safely assume that we will see new iPhones on this date.

Furthermore, the president of SoftBank Mobile accidentally revealed the iPhone 11 release date, and an asset discovered in the latest iOS 13 beta also appeared to confirm that the event takes place on September 10th.

In addition to three possible iPhones, rumors point to the launch of a new 10,2-inch iPad and a 16-inch MacBook Pro.

    New iPhone design

The new iPhones should look the same on the front, but the finish on the back should be more matte than glossy, as it currently is.

    Three rear cameras

One of the most talked about rumors of the new iPhone 2019 is its triple camera setup on the back, including in addition to the normal cameras, probably with 12Mp, and the zoom camera, a third wide-angle sensor. These extra lenses allow you to zoom out and capture a wider field of view. The three sensors should include a circular flash on the camera and a microphone below the central camera.

The sensors capture three images simultaneously, use new artificial intelligence software to automatically correct the combined photo. There will also be improvements in low-light photos.

In addition, the camcorder will receive an update that will make it look like a professional camcorder. Users will be able to retouch, apply effects, change colors, reshape the image and crop the video while it is being recorded.

    Water resistance

Over the years, the iPhone has become more and more water resistant, but it has always been hampered by the charging port. But the new iPhones are expected to have greater resistance to water, and for more than 30 minutes.

To achieve this, Apple could be planning to change the design of the Lightning port. An Apple patent describes a door with a liquid-tight seal made of a material that expands only when triggered by software on the smartphone.

    USB Type C

Another change regarding waterproofing can happen on USB C. iOS 13 is now available in beta, and it has been noticed that the developer displays a new graphic when you need to connect your iPhone to a Mac. Instead of the old image of a Lightning cable, it shows USB-C.

Apple has already switched from its Lightning standard to USB-C on iPad Pro models starting in 2018, and the manufacturer is likely to do the same for this year's iPhones.

One of the advantages would be the ease of use by design professionals, allowing the connection of digital cameras more easily, as well as the transfer of high quality images.

    Fabric

Last year, Apple released iPhone in three different screen sizes (5,8 inches for the X and XS, 6,1 inches for the XR, and 6,5 inches for the XS Max). Last year, Apple released the first iPhones with OLED screens, keeping only the cheapest iPhone, the XR, with LCD. In most respects, OLED is great: it offers deeper blacks than LCD, brighter whites, better overall color reproduction, and even higher power efficiency.

But OLED is a more expensive technology, so the company should keep its cheaper version with a 6.1-inch LCD screen with a resolution of 1792x828 pixels, 326 ppi, just like the iPhone XR.

The iPhone 11 Pro will have a 5,8-inch OLED screen, 2346x1125 pixels and 458 ppi, the same as the iPhone XS, and the iPhone 11 Pro Max will be identical to the 5,8-inch model, but with a 6,5-inch OLED screen. and 2688x1242 pixels.

Another trend for the screen of 2019 iPhones is the use of screens made with sapphire, the same material used in Apple Watch displays.

    Specifications and new features

    A13 processor chip

The iPhone has always had processors, like the A10, A11 and A12 chips, that you don't find in smartphones from other manufacturers. So there's no doubt that the next batch of iPhones will feature an A13. But how fast will the A13 be and what boost will it provide?

Rumor has it that the A13 will be even faster than the A12, and will work in tandem with a new co-processor, codenamed AMX or Matrix, that will handle heavy tasks, and will also benefit from augmented reality.

The A13 should come with 4GB of RAM in the cheaper version of the iPhone (successor to the XR), Wi-Fi 6 support and reverse wireless charging. The successors of the XS line will have the same chipset, but with 6 GB of RAM.

There may be a temporary switch to "7nm+", which uses extreme ultraviolet lithography to achieve 20% better logic density and 10% better energy efficiency.

    Improved Face ID

A big change to Face ID appears to be the ability to capture a wider field of view, meaning it will work when you try to unlock your iPhone lying on your bed, or if it's on the table next to you.

Apple's Face ID face recognition technology will remain on 2019 iPhones; Face ID scanner should be updated and be more powerful.

However, Apple could cut costs on a cheaper variant by leaving out Face ID. This model, aimed at the Chinese market, will feature a fingerprint sensor.

    Sem 3D Touch

Two recent iPhones - the SE and XR - lacked 3D Touch, the latter with what Apple calls Haptic Touch, which is the manufacturer's replacement technology. Haptic Touch support, currently found on the XR, will replace the 3D touch on this year's iPhones. It will mirror 3D Touch functionality with a long press. Haptic Touch is just a long press together with vibration.

What will the new iPhone be called?

There's a good chance that the new iPhone will be called the iPhone 11. However, there are other options Apple can offer, including Phone Pro or the 11 Pro. This is based on a tweet from a leaker, who correctly predicted the naming conventions of the iPhone XR and XS.

There are also rumors that the new device could be called iPhone XI - that is, 11 in Roman numerals, following the same convention as the iPhone X. generation.

    New iPhone price

How much will the new iPhone cost? It is quite possible that it will cost the same launch price as the previous generation. After the price rise in the last two years, Apple is expected to stabilize values
