The Xiaomi sub-brand officially launched the Redmi 8 in India earlier this month. In addition to this smartphone, the company launched the Redmi 8A, more affordable, but with great hardware, especially considering the cost/benefit ratio. With a large screen and good resolution, satisfactory cameras and a huge battery with fast charging, the new devices will be launched tomorrow in China at an unbelievable price.
Design
The Redmi 8A comes in Dark Blue, Coral Orange and Midnight Black, with a polycarbonate body and P2i nano coating, with splash resistance. Both the Redmi 8 and 8A have 6,22-inch IPS LCD screens and a 19:9 aspect ratio, with a waterdrop notch.
Also noteworthy is the screen resolution of 720 x 1520 pixels (HD+). The screens of both smartphones are protected with Gorilla Glass 5 technology. The dimensions are 156,5 x 75,4 x 9,4 mm and weigh 188 grams.
Cameras
The Redmi 8 has a single rear camera, no fingerprint scanner, and the Redmi 8A has two rear cameras as well as a fingerprint scanner.
Processor and battery
One of the weak points is the performance, as it would not be possible to do much more with this price. The smartphones have the modest Snapdragon 439 chipset, the same as the Redmi 7A. Now, the big advantage is the huge 5000mAh battery, which guarantees a lot of autonomy.
Price
The Redmi 8 starts at 799 Yuan (US$113), in the 3GB RAM version, while the 4GB and 128GB storage version will cost 899 Yuan (US$127).
