Apple considers refund for those who paid full amount to replace the battery of iPhones

Apple informed through a letter sent to parliamentarians and released on Tuesday (06) that it identified a great demand for replacement of iPhone batteries and with that, it intends to offer discounts to consumers who ended up paying the full amount in replacing the batteries.

In December, the company revealed that the new software that has been available lately has been slowing down the performance of the iPhone 6, iPhone 6s and iPhone SE models. After the manufacturer's revelation, many users were disgusted with the company's attitude, and it could have at least warned owners of older iPhones that by updating their devices, the software could slow down the device.

However, the company ended up apologizing to its customers and ended up reducing the price of batteries to be replaced in the models that were affected, then in the United States the replacement being made for US$ 29, instead of US$ 79.

Now, the company is studying the possibility of reimbursing consumers who ended up exchanging the batteries for the full price, without the discounts. Here in Spain, the exchange can be carried out with a discount of R$150, down from R$450 to R$300. However, it is not known if Spanish consumers will also be able to receive a refund.

      Apple's Justification

To explain what happened, Apple said that the main objective with releasing operating system updates to reduce the performance of iPhones with old batteries was "to provide the best performance experience for consumers".

However, this causes the smartphone to end up running slower and reduces the device's demand for energy at peaks, in practice, this prevents the iPhone from turning off overnight.

The company's conduct generated revolt in consumers who ended up even taking legal action in search of solutions for their devices. Many even commented that this will be a way for the manufacturer to force people to buy one of the new iPhone models. Several lawsuits emerged, in France, Israel and the United States.
