Facebook has announced a new artificial intelligence tool aimed at programmers. Called SapFix, the new feature has the function of analyzing source code, scanning for errors, testing patch patches and even suggesting update paths, all automatically.
SapFix is already included in Facebook's massive code so it can be shared with the developer community.
Through Facebook Code, the social network explains how the novelty works: "As far as we know, this is the first time that a machine learning function — with end-to-end testing and repair capabilities — has been inserted into a database Facebook's scale. It's an important step towards hybrid artificial intelligence and brings even more evidence that search-based software engineering can reduce friction in application development", says the network's development team.
To top it off, Facebook says, "As we develop SapFix to work with all kinds of bugs and software, this tool has the potential to change the speed and quality of code generation."
