Facebook gives up its virtual assistant

Facebook in 2015 introduced M, its Messenger virtual assistant. In the United States, it brought functions such as the suggestion of stickers and the creation of appointments in the agenda based on the conversation between users.

The assistant only arrived in Spain in October last year and brought few functions with Facebook, however, with the promise of integrating some new features in the future. However, users, it seems, will no longer be able to take advantage of the M assistant.

According to The Verge, Facebook will deactivate the assistant on January 19, claiming it was just an experiment.

Facebook, in turn, after the site posted the information, ended up confirming the end of the assistant and also said that all employees who worked in the system will be reallocated to other sectors of the company.

      Check out Facebook's statement:

"Today, we share with people who have access to our closed project M, first announced in August 2015, that January 19th is the last day the service will be available. We launched this project to find out what people needed and expected an assistant and we learned a lot. We are taking this useful information to drive other AI projects on Facebook. We continue to be very pleased with the performance of M's suggestions in Messenger, fueled by our learnings from this experience."
