Facebook Messenger update brings communication with Instagram

Recently the Facebook Messenger app changed its look and gained new features through its latest update. Among the new features are support for chat themes, personalized reactions and, soon, selfie stickers and a vanish mode. This overhaul was announced at the end of September, when the ability for Instagram users to message people on Facebook was implemented.

In the case of Instagram users, it is necessary to choose the option to use the new updated features to have access to communication between the platforms, however, in the case of Messenger, it is not necessary to do anything. This implementation of communication between Facebook and Instagram users will take place primarily in North America.

Instagram starts to receive the function of merging DMs with Messenger chats

Looking at the design part, there was a change in the Messenger logo and the look of the message screen (it now appears in shades of blue, purple and pink). In addition, there will be new themes for the chat screen, including love and tie-dye.

The features mentioned above are the same as those offered by Instagram in the latest update. But it's not just Instagram that gets new features, Messenger recently received the functionality to co-watch videos with friends or through the app's rooms.

What are Facebook's intentions with the integration of its applications?

With this integration between its applications, Facebook intends to prevent its users from migrating to other competing platforms. It is likely that in the future WhatsApp will also join this integration.
