Facebook is once again offering a market research app, yes, this isn't the first time Facebook has done so, but this time the social network appears to be avoiding some of the privacy concerns it once had.
The social media giant introduced the Viewpoints app that pays Facebook users to complete surveys, as well as other tasks that will help refine their products.
Unlike Google Rewards rewards, you do not receive rewards immediately. Instead, you accumulate points and receive contributions via PayPal automatically whenever you reach a pre-set scoring threshold.
That way you don't have to worry about your rewards expiring. Not surprisingly, Facebook wants to avoid claims that it is snooping around users without their full consent.
You must be at least 18 years old to use points and you will know what information is collected and how it will be used. The company also states that it will not sell the collected data to third parties or publicly share survey responses without permission.
Viewpoints is currently only available to US Facebook account users. However, there is already planning to offer the app to other countries in 2020.
The company is clearly confident that Viewpoints will be very well accepted by users. This is kind of obvious since data collection already happens today, and we don't receive anything for that, having an app to receive for answered surveys is what, in my understanding, should always exist!
