Facebook will start using people's smartphone GPS to be able to serve ads through the news feed. With this, Mark Zuckerberg's social network will start showing advertisements for physical stores after the user visits it in person.
The advertisements that currently appear on Facebook are based on the history of websites that the person has accessed, as well as pages and subjects liked and even searches for certain products made in search engines such as Google. However, soon, the user's location will also serve as information for advertisers.

Facebook, however, guarantees that the user will be able to choose whether or not to share their location data with advertisers through their account settings. For now, the new tool is only available with a small group of advertiser partners on the social network.
There is still no information on whether the scope will be only for the United States or other countries.
